30 октября – 6 ноября 2011 г., викарій Восточно-Американской епархіи, Преосвященнѣйшій епископъ Мэйфильдскій Георгій, совершилъ архипастырскій визитъ по приходамъ Нью Iорка, Нью Джерси и Пенсильваніи. Отецъ Сергій и о. Леонидъ сопровождали Владыку во время его визитовъ. Въ теченіе всей недѣли, Владыка пребывалъ въ Ховеллѣ и молился за богослуженіями въ Св. Георгіевскомъ храмѣ.

Въ понедѣльникъ вечеромъ 31 октября, была отслужена Всенощная наканунѣ дня памяти св. прав. Іоанна Кронштадскаго. Въ связи съ 30-ой годовщиной прославленія свв. Новомучениковъ и Исповѣдниковъ Россіискихъ (1 ноября 1981 г.), служба св. прав. Іоанну Кронштадскому была отслужена вмѣстѣ съ службой Новомученикамъ. Всенощную отслужили іером. Александръ (Фризеллъ; благочинный Крестовоздвиженскаго монастыря) и о. Леонидъ. Во вторникъ утромъ, Владыка совершилъ Литургію въ храмѣ Пресвятой Богородицы „Неупиваемая Чаша“ въ Бруклинѣ. Послѣ Литургіи, Владыка, въ сопровожденіи о. Сергія, о. Александра и о. Леонида, посѣтилъ администрацивный центръ новосозданной Ассоциаціи Православныхъ Предпринимателей въ Бруклинѣ.

Въ среду вечеромъ 2 ноября, еп. Георгій и приходское духовенство совершили Вечерню и Утреню въ домовой часовнѣ о. Сергія, посвященной свят. Нектарію Пентапольскому. Въ четвергъ утромъ 3 ноября, въ день тезоименитства митр. Иларіона, еп. Георгій возглавилъ Божественную литургію въ храмѣ свв. Новомучениковъ и Исповѣдниковъ Россіискихъ въ Бруклинѣ. Послѣ Литургіи, Владыка прошелъ по улицамъ Бруклина и пообщался съ русскимъ православнымъ народомъ. Смотрите фотографіи на епархіальномъ сайтѣ здѣсь.

Въ пятницу вечеромъ 4 ноября, наканунѣ дня памяти св. ап. Іакова брата Господня, Владыка совершилъ іерейскимъ чиномъ Вечерню и Утреню, при пѣніи приходского мужского хора. Въ субботу утромъ, Владыка возглавилъ Литургію въ сосѣднемъ храмѣ преподобномуч. Елизаветы въ г. Роки-Хиллъ, по случаю празднованія 25-лѣтія священства настоятеля прот. Давида Страута. Послѣ Литургіи Владыка посѣтилъ Русскій фестиваль въ Петропавловскомъ храмѣ въ г. Саутъ-Риверъ. Въ фестивалѣ принимали активное участіе прихожане и друзья нашего храма. Въ субботу вечеромъ Владыка молился на Всенощномъ бдѣніи въ Георгіевскомъ храмѣ.

Въ воскресенье утромъ 6 ноября, еп. Георгій, въ сопровожденіи приходского духовенства, возглавилъ Божественную литургію въ храмѣ Пресвятой Богородицы „Всѣхъ Скорбящихъ Радость“ въ Филадельфіи, по случаю 60-лѣтія со дня основанія прихода. Въ Георгіевскомъ храмѣ, Литургію совершили прот. Павелъ Шафранъ и сосѣдній діак. Павелъ Дроздовскій (клирикъ Свято-Владимірскаго храма-памятника). Въ воскресенье вечеромъ, по дорогѣ въ Ховеллъ, Владыка заѣхалъ въ гости члену приходского совѣта Виталію Конофольскому, чтобы продолжить свое общеніе съ прихожанами нашего прихода вокругъ теплаго костра. Въ понедѣльникъ 7 ноября, Владыка вернулся домой въ Крестовоздвиженскій монастырь.

From October 30 – November 6, 2011, His Grace, Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop George of Mayfield carried out an archpastoral visit to parishes in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Fr. Serge and Fr. Leonid accompanied His Grace during the visit. Over the course of his visit, Bishop George stayed in Howell and prayed at the divine services in St. George’s Church.

On Monday evening, October 31, the All-Night Vigil was served on the eve of the feast of St. John of Kronstadt. In honor of the 30th anniversary of the glorification of the Holy New Martyrs & Confessors of Russia (November 1, 1981), the service to St. John of Kronstadt was served alongside the service to the New Martyrs. The Vigil was served by Hieromonk Alexander (Frizzell; dean of Holy Cross Monastery) and Fr. Leonid. On Tuesday morning, His Grace celebrated the Liturgy in the Church of Our Lady “The Inexhaustible Chalice” in Brooklyn. After the Liturgy, Bishop George, accompanied by Fr. Serge, Fr. Alexander, and Fr. Leonid, visited the administrative center of the newly founded Association of Orthodox Business Professionals in Brooklyn.

On Wednesday evening, November 2, His Grace and parish clergy served Vespers and Matins in Fr. Serge’s home chapel, dedicated to St. Nektarios of Pentapolic. On Thursday morning, November 3, on Metropolitan Hilarion’s namesday, Bishop George celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Church of the New Martyrs & Confessors of Russia in Brooklyn. On Friday evening, November 4, on the eve of the feast of the Holy Apostle James, Brother of the Lord, Bishop George served Vespers and Matins according to the priestly rite, to the singing of the parish’s male choir. On Saturday morning, His Grace celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the neighboring parish of St. Elizabeth the New Martyr in Rocky Hill on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of rector Archpriest David Straut’s ordination to the priesthood. After the Liturgy, Bishop George visited the Russian festival at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in South River. Parishioners and friends of our parish took part in the festival. On Saturday night, His Grace prayed at the All-Night Vigil in St. George’s.

On Sunday morning, November 6, Bishop George, accompanied by parish clergy, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Church of Our Lady “Joy of All who Sorrow” in Philadelphia, on the occasion of the parish’s 60th anniversary. In St. George’s Church, Priest Paul Shafran celebrated the Divine Liturgy, co-served by neighboring Deacon Paul Drozdowski (cleric of St. Vladimir Memorial Church). On Sunday evening, His Grace paid a visit to the home of parish council member Vitaly Konofolsky in order to continue his interaction with our parishioners around a warm bonfire. On Monday, November 7, Bishop George returned to Holy Cross Monastery.

По благословенію Высокопреосвященнѣйшаго митрополита Иларіона, въ субботу 8 октября, въ праздникъ преп. Сергія Радонежскаго, Управляющій Патріаршими приходами въ США, Высокопреосвященнѣйшій архіепископъ Наро-Ѳоминскій Юстиніанъ возглавилъ Божественную литургію въ Св. Георгіевскомъ храмѣ. Наканунѣ праздника была отслужена Всенощная со всенароднымъ пѣніемъ акаѳиста преп. Сергію Радонежскому.

Его Высокопреосвященству сослужили настоятель храма, прот. Евгеній Гончаренко (клирикъ Св. Николаевскаго Патріаршаго собора въ Нью-Іоркѣ), прот. Іоаннъ Моузесъ (настоятель храма Всѣхъ Святыхъ въ г. Миддлбрукъ, шт. Вирджинія), іерей Алексій Бочарниковъ (настоятель Св. Николаевскаго храма въ г. Честеръ, шт. Пенсильванія), іерей Валерій Сухолобовъ (и.о. настоятеля Радосте-Скорбященскаго храма въ Филадельфіи), архидіак. Евгеній Бурбело, протод. Игорь Паначевъ (клирикъ Св. Николаевскаго собора) и о. діак. Леонидъ Рожковъ. За Литургіей пѣлъ малый составъ мужского хора „Подобенъ“. Хоръ былъ основанъ въ 2010 г. протодіак. Стефаномъ Гованецъ чтобы сохранить богатое наслѣдіе и традиціи Русскаго мужского пѣнія въ Америкѣ. Въ хорѣ поютъ мужчины изъ Русской Зарубежной Церкви и Православной Церкви въ Америкѣ.

По окончаніи Литургіи Владыка обратился къ богомольцамъ со словомъ о жизни и подвигахъ преп. Сергія Радонежскаго, особо отмѣтивъ значеніе Куликовской битвы въ судьбахъ Отечества, на которую онъ благословилъ св. князя Димитрія Донского. Владыка также поздравилъ о. Сергія съ днемъ памяти его Небеснаго покровителя, пожелавъ ему помощи Божіей въ трудахъ на благо Церкви Христовой.

Въ отвѣтномъ словѣ о. Сергій поблагодарилъ Высокопреосвященнѣйшаго владыку за архипастырскій визитъ, совмѣстную молитву и за добрыя слова. Отецъ Сергій также отмѣтилъ, какъ пріятно работать съ Его Высокопреосвященствомъ надъ проектами, способствующими дѣлу единенія приходовъ Московскаго Патріархата и Восточно-Американской епархіи.

October 8, 2011 – Namesday of the Rector
With the blessing of His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion, on Saturday, October 8, on the feast day of St. Sergius of Radonezh, the Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA, His Eminence Justinian, Archbishop of Naro-Fominsk, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in St. George’s Church. On the eve of the feast, the All-Night Vigil was served with the singing of the akathist to St. Sergius of Radonezh.

His Eminence was co-served by the rector, Archpriest Evgeny Goncharenko (cleric of St. Nicholas Patriarchal Cathedral in New York, NY), Archpriest John Moses (rector of All Saints of North America Church in Middlebrook, VA), Priest Alexey Bocharnikov (rector of St. Nicholas Church in Chester, PA), Priest Valery Sukholobov (temp. rector of the Church of Our Lady, "Joy of All Who Sorrow," in Philadelphia), Archdeacon Eugene Burbelo, Protodeacon Igor Panachev (cleric of St. Nicholas Cathedral), and parish Deacon Leonid Roschko. During the Liturgy, a small group from the NE Pennsylvanian male choir “Podoben” sang, including Protodeacon Stephen Howanetz (cleric of St. Tikhon of Zadonsk Monastery).

Upon completion of the Liturgy, His Eminence addressed worshipers with a sermon on the life and spiritual labors of St. Sergius of Radonezh, underscoring the importance of the Battle of Kulikovo for the fate of Russia, a battle in which he blessed the Holy Prince Dmitry Donskoy for battle. Archbishop Justinian also congratulated Fr. Serge on the feast day of his Heavenly Intercessor, wishing him God’s aid in his labors for Christ’s Church.

In reply, Fr. Serge thanked His Eminence for his archpastoral visit, joint prayer, and gracious words. Fr. Serge noted how wonderful it has been to work together with His Eminence on projects that further the cause of unity amongst the parishes of the Moscow Patriarchate and the Eastern American Diocese.

Во вторникъ 30 августа, прихожане собрались въ Св. Георгіевскомъ храмѣ на прощальный благодарственный молебенъ по случаю назначенія о. Іоны настоятелемъ церкви Христа Спасителя въ г. Вейнъ, шт. Зап. Вирджиія. Молебенъ возглавилъ о. настоятель въ сослуженіи прот. Іоанна Моузеса, о. Іоны и о. Леонида. На клиросѣ молился Преосвященнеѣйшій епископъ Мэйфильдскій Георгій. Въ концѣ молебна о. Сергій обратился къ о. Іонѣ и матушкѣ со словами искренней благодарности за прошедшіе два года. Отецъ Сергій отмѣтилъ, насколько пріятно было молиться и подвизатся на нивѣ Христовой вмѣстѣ съ о. Іоной. Отъ имени благодарныхъ прихожанъ о. Сергій преподнесъ о. Іонѣ новое голубое іерейское облаченія. Въ отвѣтномъ словѣ о. Іона поблагодарилъ о. настоятеля и о. Леонида за доброе и братское отношеніе и совмѣстную молитву у престола Божія. О. Іона также поблагодарилъ всѣхъ прихожанъ за ихъ любовь и святыя молитвы за послѣдніе два года его плодотворнаго служенія въ нашемъ приходѣ. Отецъ Іона увѣрилъ прихожанъ, что будетъ часто посѣщать наши храмы, а также пригласилъ всѣхъ пріѣхать и погостить у него на приходѣ въ Зап. Вирджиніи. On Tuesday, August 30, parishioners gathered at St. George’s Church for a thanksgiving moleben and farewell to Fr. Jonah, who will be assuming the post of rector of Christ the Savior Church in Wayne, WV. The rector led the moleben, co-served by Archpriest John Moses, Fr. Jonah, and Fr. Leonid. Praying on the kliros was His Grace George, Bishop of Mayfield. Upon completion of the moleben, Fr. Serge addressed Fr. Jonah and Matushka with sincere words of gratitude for the last two years together. Fr. Serge noted how wonderful it was to pray and labor together with Fr. Jonah in Christ’s vineyard. On behalf of our grateful parishioners, Fr. Serge presented Fr. Jonah with a new set of blue priest’s vestments. In response, Fr. Jonah thanked the rector and Fr. Leonid for their kind and brotherly treatment, and for their joint prayer at God’s holy altar. Fr. Jonah also thanked all of the parishioners for their love and holy prayers over the last two years of his fruitful service in our parish. Fr. Jonah assured parishioners that he will come visit our churches often, and invited everyone to come be a guest at his parish in West Virginia. Въ субботу 27го и воскресенье 28го августа, въ великій и двунадесятый праздникъ Успенія Пресвятой Богородицы, настоятель возглавилъ богослуженія въ Св. Георгіевскомъ храмѣ, въ сослуженіи приходского духовенства. Несмотря на угрозу наступающаго урагана „Ирина“, много прихожанъ пришли помолиться и радоваться Пасхой Божіей Матери.

На слѣдующее утро, хотя по улицамъ вездѣ лежали падшія деревья и вѣтки, вѣрующіе пришли въ храмъ на Божественную литургію, которую отслужили приходскіе клирики. Почти всѣ присутствующіе причащались свв. Христовыхъ Таинъ.

По окончаніи Литургіи, вокругъ храма былъ совершенъ праздничный крестный ходъ. Послѣ службы, о. Сергій привѣтствовалъ о. Іону, который на этой недѣли отправляется въ Зап. On Saturday the 27th and Sunday the 28th of August, on the great feast of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos, the rector led the divine services in St. George's Church, co-served by parish clergy. Despite the looming threat of Hurricane Irene, many parishioners nonetheless came to pray and rejoice on the Pascha of the Mother of God.

The following morning, despite trees and branches littering the streets, the faithful filled the church for the Divine Liturgy, served by parish clerics. Virtually all of the faithful communed of the Holy Mysteries.

Upon completion of the Liturgy, a festal procession was held around the church. After the service, Fr. Serge greeted Fr. Jonah, who will depart this week for West Virginia, where he will become rector of Christ the Savior Church, close to Holy Cross Monastery. Click here for photos.

Въ четвергъ 18го и пятницу 19го августа, въ великій и двунадесятый праздникъ Преображенія Господня, праздничныя богослуженія въ Св. Георгіевскомъ храмѣ возглавилъ о. настоятель, въ сослуженіи приходского духовенства. Дивное и молитвенное пѣніе приходского хора, подъ управленіемъ чт. Нектарія Лукьянова, способствовало праздничному настроенію молящихся.

Въ пятницу утромъ, въ концѣ Божественной литургіи состоялся крестный ходъ вокругъ храма, и традиціонное освященіе винограда и фруктовъ. Въ своемъ привѣтствіи по окончаніи Литургіи, о. Сергій поздравилъ братьевъ-сослужителей и всѣхъ богомольцевъ со свѣтлымъ и радостнымъ праздникомъ Преображенія Господня. „Пусть негасимый Ѳаворскій свѣтъ коснется души каждаго изъ насъ, очиститъ грѣхи, и укрѣпитъ насъ въ вѣрѣ. Будемъ уповать на милость и помощь Божію, чтобы сохранить этотъ свѣтъ въ своемъ сердцѣ до слѣдующаго года“. Во время цѣлованія креста, о. On Thursday the 18th and Friday the 19th of August, on the great feast of the Transfiguration of Our Lord, the rector led the divine services in St. George’s Church, co-served by the parish clergy. The wonderful singing of the parish choir, under the direction of Reader Nektary Lukianov, contributed to the festal mood of all the worshipers.

On Friday morning, upon completion of the Divine Liturgy, a crucession was held around the church, with the traditional blessing of the grapes and fruits. After his sermon, Fr. Serge congratulated his brother clergymen and all those present with the radiant and joyous feast of the Transfiguration of Our Lord. “May the inextinguishable light of Mt. Tabor touch the souls of every one of us, cleansing us of our sins, and fortifying us in faith. Let us hope on God’s mercy and aid, that we might preserve that light in our hearts until next year.” During the veneration of the Cross, Fr. Jonah handed everyone blessed grapes. Въ субботу 13го и воскресенье 14го августа, въ праздникъ Происхожденія честныхъ древъ Животворящаго Креста Господня, по благословенiю Первоiерарха РПЦЗ, митр. Иларiона, Одигитрія Русскаго Разсѣянія, Курская Коренная икона Божіей Матери, посѣтила Св. Георгіевскій храмъ. Всенощное бдѣніе въ канунъ праздника возглавилъ настоятель о. Сергій, въ сослуженіи о. Іоны и о. Леонида, а также прот. Зорана Радовича (настоятель Св. Георгіевскаго сербскаго храма въ Элизабетѣ, шт. Нью-Джерси). Во время Великаго славословія состоялся выносъ Креста, и богомольцы съ радостью въ сердцахъ воспѣли „Кресту Твоему поклоняемся...“. Послѣ перваго часа всѣ исповѣдовались передъ чудотворнымъ образомъ Богоматери и Крестомъ Господнимъ.

На слѣдующее утро, Литургію отслужило приходское духовенство, въ сослуженіи архид. Евгения Бурбело. Почти всѣ причастились, а по окончаніи службы въ храмѣ, по традиціи въ первый день Успенскаго поста состоялось освященіе воды и меда для подкрѣпленія вѣрующихъ въ наступающіе дни передъ Успеніемъ ‒ Пасхой Божіей Матери.

Съ амвона о. Сергій поздравилъ о. Іону съ наступающей 2-й годовщиной рукоположенія въ священническій санъ, а о. Евгенія – съ днемъ рожденія. Затѣмъ о. Іонѣ и о. Евгенію провозгласили многоая лѣта. Смотрите фотографiи здѣсь.

On Saturday the 13th and Sunday the 14th of August, on the feast day of the Procession of the Honorable Wood of the Life-Giving Cross of the Lord, the Protectress of the Russian Diaspora, the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God, visited St. George’s Church with the blessing of His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion. Fr. Serge served the All-Night Vigil on the eve of the feast, co-served by Fr. Jonah and Fr. Leonid, as well as Archpriest Zoran Radovic. During the Great Doxology, the Bringing-out of the Cross was performed, and the faithful sang out: “Before Thy Cross…” After the first hour, everyone present confessed their sins before the wonderworking icon of the Mother of God and the Lord’s Cross.

The following morning, the parish clergy, co-served by Archdeacon Eugene Burbelo, celebrated the Divine Liturgy. Virtually everyone present partook of Holy Communion, and after the conclusion of the service, as is the tradition on the first day of the Dormition Fast, the blessing of the water and honey was performed for the fortification of the faithful in the coming days before the Dormition – the Pascha of the Mother of God.

From the ambo, Fr. Serge congratulated Fr. Jonah with the upcoming 2nd anniversary his ordination the priesthood, and congratulated Fr. Eugene with his birthday. The Polychronion was then intoned for Fr. Jonah and Fr. Eugene. Click here for photographs.

Въ воскресенье 7го августа, въ праздникъ Успенія прав. Анны, матери Пресвятой Богородицы, Божественную литургію въ Св. Георгіевскомъ храмѣ возглавилъ настоятель о. Сергій, въ сослуженіи о. діак. Леонида. По окончаніи Литургіи, согласно указу митр. Иларіона была отслужена литія по митр. Антонію (Храповицкому), первому по счету Первоіерарховъ РПЦЗ, по случаю 75-лѣтія его блаженной кончины. Послѣ Литургіи о. Сергій привѣтствовалъ Ѳедю и Полину Бенцы, брата и сестру и, поздравляя ихъ по случаю первой исповѣди, преподнесъ имъ списки чудотворной Курской Коренной иконы Божіей Матери. О. Сергій также поздравилъ прихожанокъ Марію Іоакимовну Рожкову и Киру Николаевну Кузьминъ-Полянскую по случаю дня Ангела и дня рожденія, соотвѣтственно.

Затѣмъ при Кубанскомъ казачьемъ музеѣ былъ проведенъ ежегодный казачій пикникъ. Благотворительное мѣропріятіе было многолюднымъ, и традиціонную русскую кухню (шашлыкъ, курицу, котлеты, капусту и картошку) сопровождали русскія и украйнскія народныя пѣсни, исполняемыя мѣстнымъ ансамблемъ. Послѣ пикника о. Сергій, въ сопровожденіи приходской молодежи, отбылъ въ Зап. Вирджинія, чтобы принять участіе въ маломъ престольномъ праздникѣ Крестовоздвиженскаго монастыря.

On Sunday, August 7, the feast of the dormition of St. Anna, the Mother of the Most Holy Theotokos, Fr. Serge celebrated the Divine Liturgy in St. George’s Church, co-served by Fr. Leonid. Upon completion of the Liturgy, in accordance with a directive from Metropolitan Hilarion, a Litiy was served for Metropolitan Antony (Khrapovitsky), the first First Hierarch of ROCOR, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of his blessed repose. After the Liturgy, Fr. Serge greeted the brother and sister Fedya and Polina Bentsa and, congratulating them on their first confession, presented them with copies of the wonderworking Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God. Fr. Serge also congratulated parishioners Maria I. Roschko and Kira N. Kuzmin-Polansky on the occasion of their namesday and birthday, respectively.

The annual Cossack picnic was then held at the Cossack Museum. The fundraiser was well-attended, and the traditional Russian cuisine (shish-kabob, chicken, kotlety, cabbage, and potatoes) was accompanied by Russian and Ukrainian folk music, performed by a local ensemble. After the picnic, Fr. Serge, accompanied by parish youth, departed for West Virginia to take part in the lesser patronal feast day of Holy Cross Monastery.

Въ понедѣльникъ 1 августа, въ день обрѣтенія мощей преп. Серафима Саровскаго, Св. Георгіевскій храмъ посѣтилъ викарій Восточно-Американской епархіи, Преосвященнѣйшій епископъ Мэйфильдскій Георгій. Утреню и Божественную литургію возглавилъ о. Сергій.

Вечеромъ, въ резеденціи настоятеля прошла встрѣча Владыки съ приходской молодежью. За праздничнымъ ужиномъ молодымъ людямъ прихода была предоставлена рѣдкая возможность побесѣдовать со своимъ архипастыремъ и задавать свои вопросы. On Monday, August 1, on the feast of the Finding of the Relics of St. Seraphim of Sarov, His Grace, Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop George of Mayfield, visited St. George’s Church. Fr. Serge served Matins and then celebrated the Divine Liturgy.

That evening, His Grace hosted an informal meeting with the parish youth at Fr. Serge’s home. Over a festal dinner, these young people were given a rare opportunity to hold a discussion with their archpastor and pose their questions. The meeting continued late into the night, and no one wanted to leave. Click here for photographs.

Въ субботу 9го и воскресенье 10го іюля, Всенощное бдѣніе и Божественную литургію въ Св. Георгіевскомъ храмѣ отслужилъ о. Іона, въ сослуженіи о. Леонида. Особая служба 10 іюля отмѣчаетъ Богомъ дарованную побѣду Россіи надъ шведами подъ Полтавой въ 1709 г. За службой вѣрующіе молитвенно благодарили Господа за сохраненіе Родины отъ вражьяго нашествія.

Въ понедѣльникъ вечеромъ, наканунѣ праздника свв. первоверховныхъ апп. Петра и Павла, прихожане собрались въ Св. Георгіевскомъ храмѣ для Всенощнаго бдѣнія. Множество вѣрующихъ исповѣдовалось, чтобы въ самый день праздника причаститься Свв. Христовыхъ Таинствъ. По окончанiи Всенощной, о. Сергій поздравилъ приходского старосту-именинника Павла Викторовича Варавко. Послѣ Всенощной была отслужена панихида по архіеп. Андрею (Рымаренко), архіеп. Павлу (Павлову), прот. Петру Мочарскому, Петру Мясняеву, ипод. Антонію Бѣляеву и др.

На слѣдующее утро, о. Сергій возглавилъ Божественную литургію, въ сослуженіи о. Леонида. Почти всѣ присутствующіе подошли ко Святой Чашѣ, что умножило праздничную радость. По окончаніи Литургіи о. Сергій привѣтствовалъ именинниковъ и ихъ семьи.

On Saturday the 9th and Sunday the 10th of July, Fr. Jonah served the All-Night Vigil and Divine Liturgy in St. George’s Church, co-served by Fr. Leonid. A special service on July 10th marks Russia’s God-given victory over the Swedes at Poltava in 1709. During the service, the faithful prayerfully thanked the Lord for preserving Russia from the invasions of the enemy.

On Monday evening, on the eve of the feast of the Holy Leaders of the Apostles Sts. Peter and Paul, parishioners gathered in St. George’s Church for the All-Night Vigil. Many of the faithful went to confession, that on the very day of the feast they might partake of Christ’s Holy Mysteries. Upon completion of the Vigil, Fr. Serge congratulated the parish warden, Pavel V. Varavko, on the occasion of his namesday. After the Vigil, a panihida was served for Archbishop Andrei (Rymarenko), Archbishop Pavel (Pavlov), Archpriest Peter Mocharsky, Peter Miasneff, Subdeacon Anthony Beliaeff, and many more.

The following morning, Fr. Serge celebrated the Divine Liturgy, co-served by Fr. Leonid. Almost everyone in attendance approached the Holy Chalice, which magnified the festal joy. Upon completion of the Liturgy, Fr. Serge greeted those celebrating their namesday and their families.

Въ пятницу 17 iюня, въ приходскомъ залѣ греческаго храма св. великомуч. Варары въ г. Томсъ-Риверъ, членами Св. Николаевскаго фонда былъ устроенъ ежегодный благотворителный лѣтній танецъ. Вечеръ успѣшно прошелъ въ семейной и дружеской атмосферѣ. Всѣ средства, собранныя во время вечера, будутъ направлены на продолженія проектовъ по реставраціи храмовъ.

Въ воскресенье 19 iюня, въ недѣлю Всѣхъ Святыхъ, въ Св. Геогіевскомъ храмѣ приходскимъ духовенствомъ была отслужена Божественная литургія съ участіемъ архидіак. Евгенія Бурбело. On Friday, June 17, St. Nicholas Fund held our parish’s annual summer dance fundraiser in the parish hall of St. Barbara Greek Church in Toms River, NJ. The dance was a success, and proceeded in a familial and friendly atmosphere. All proceeds from the dance will go to fund the continuing restoration of our churches.

On Sunday, June 19, on the Sunday of All Saints, the Divine Liturgy was served in St. George’s Church by the parish clergy and Archdeacon Eugene Burbelo. After the Liturgy, in honor of Father’s Day, a picnic was held at the home of the rector. Click here for photographs.

Въ пятницу 10го и субботу 11го іюня, наканунѣ Троицкой Родительской субботы, прихожане собрались въ Св. Георгіевскомъ храмѣ на поминовеніе своихъ усопшихъ сродниковъ и близкихъ. Заупокойную литургію возглавилъ о. настоятель. По окончаніи службы состоялось освященіе колива и другихъ яствій.

Вечеромъ снова собрались въ широко украшенномъ вѣтками и цвѣтами храмѣ прихожане для празднованія великаго двунадесятаго праздника Святой Пятидесятницы. Праздничную всенощную возглавилъ настоятель, въ сослуженіи о. діакона.

На слѣдующее утро, въ самый день Сошествія Святого Духа на свв. Апостоловъ, Божественная литургія была совершена въ Св. Георгіевскомъ храмѣ. Вѣрующіе держали цвѣты, означающіе новую духовную жизни въ Святомъ Духѣ, ниспосланнымъ намъ Богомъ Отцомъ, и почти всѣ присутствующіе причащались свв. Христовыхъ Тайнъ. On Friday the 21st and Saturday the 22nd of May, on the eve of Pentecostal Soul Saturday, parishioners gathered in St. George’s Church to commemorate their relatives and loved ones. The rector celebrated the Liturgy for the Departed. Upon completion of the service, the blessing of koliva and other food was performed.

That evening, the parishioners gathered once more in the church, beautifully adorned with branches and flowers, to celebrate the great feast of Holy Pentecost. The festal vigil was served by the rector, co-served by Fr. Leonid.

The following morning, on the very day of the Descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles, the rector celebrated the Divine Liturgy, co-served by parish clergy. The faithful held flowers, symbolizing new spiritual life in the Holy Spirit, sent down to us by God the Father, and almost everyone present partook of the Holy Mysteries. Upon completion of the Liturgy, the Great Compline began, and everyone knelt for the reading of the prayers-on-bended-knee to the Holy Spirit. Click here for photos from the feast.

1го іюня 1945 г., при концѣ самой страшной войны въ человѣческой исторіи, въ городѣ Ліенцѣ были преданы на смерть въ СССР болѣе 20 тысячъ казаковъ и казачекъ. По обычаю, въ ближайшее воскресенье къ 1 іюня, казаки Кубанскаго казачьяго войска зарубежомъ устраиваютъ особый день поминовенія жертвъ этой трагедіи.

Въ воскресенье 29го мая, въ недѣлю о слѣпомъ, казаки – члены Конгресса казаковъ въ Америкѣ, очевидцы трагедіи въ Ліенцѣ и вѣрующіе изъ мѣстныхъ приходовъ собрались на Св. Владимірскомъ кладбищѣ въ Джексонѣ для панихиды у Св. Іоанно-Предтеченской часовни. Панихиду совершили о. Сергій и настоятель Св. Николаевскаго храма въ Честерѣ, шт. Пенсильванія, іерей Алексій Бочарниковъ (духовникъ Конгресса казаковъ въ Америкѣ). На панихидѣ молитвенно поминали „всѣхъ казаковъ и казачекъ, всѣхъ невинно убіенныхъ отъ рукъ беззаконныхъ во градѣ Ліенцѣ, всѣхъ преданныхъ на смерть отъ злыхъ безбожниковъ и всѣхъ животъ свой положившихъ, въ тюрьмахъ и лагеряхъ умученныхъ и убіенныхъ“.

По окончаніи панихиды, всѣ присутствующіе вернулись въ казачій залъ на поминальную трапезу. Атаманъ Кубанскаго казачьяго войска зарубежомъ Александръ Михайловичъ Певневъ произнесъ трогательную рѣчь, въ которой подчеркнул важность этого дня и подѣлился личными воспоминаніями трагедіи. On June 1, 1945, at the conclusion of the most terrible war in the history of mankind, in the mountain town of Lienz, over 20,000 Cossacks were rounded up and handed over to death in the Soviet Union. By tradition, the Kuban Cossack Voisko Abroad commemorates the victims of this tragedy every year on the nearest Sunday to June 1.

On Sunday, May 29, on the Sunday of the Blind Man, worshippers gathered at St. Vladimir’s Cemetery in Jackson, NJ for a panihida at St. John’s Chapel. Fr. Serge served the panihida, co-served by Priest Alexey Bocharnikov, rector of St. Nicholas Church in Chester and spiritual father of the Cossack Congress in America. Commemorated at the service were “every Cossack, all those who without fault were murdered at the hands of the lawless in the city of Lienz, all those given over unto death at the hands of the cruel godless ones, and all those who laid down their lives, who in prisons and in camps suffered and were killed.”

At the end of the panihida, all those in attendance returned to the Cossack hall for a commemorative luncheon. The ataman of the Kuban Cossack Voisko Abroad, Alexander M. Pewnew, delivered a speech outlining the importance of this day, and shared his firsthand accounts of the massacre. Memory eternal and eternal rest to all of the fallen at Lienz! Въ субботу 21го и воскресенье 22го мая, въ день Перенесенія мощей свят. Николая Чудотворца, прихожане отмѣтили малый престольный праздникъ Свято-Николаевскаго храма. Въ субботу вечеромъ, Всенощное бдѣніе возглавилъ настоятель, съ сослуженіи о. Іоны и о. Леонида.

На слѣдующее утро, о. Сергій отслужилъ Божественную литургію, въ сослуженіи о. діакона. Къ началу Литургіи въ храмъ прибыла частица мощей преп. Антипы Валаамскаго – даръ отъ прихожанъ храма Пресв. Богородицы “Неупиваемая Чаша” въ Бруклинѣ. По окончаніи службы, передъ Крестомъ и Евангеліемъ далъ присягу церковнаго старосты новоизбранный староста Св Николаевскаго храма Павелъ Викторовичъ Варавко.

On Saturday the 21^st and Sunday the 22^nd of June, on the feast of the Translation of the relics of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, parishioners marked the minor patronal feast day of St. Nicholas Church. On Saturday night, the rector served the All-Night Vigil, co-served by Fr. Jonah and Fr. Leonid.

The following morning, Fr. Serge celebrated the Divine Liturgy, co-served by the deacon. At the start of the Liturgy, a special, grace-filled gift for the parish arrived from the parishioners of the Church of Our Lady “The Inexhaustible Chalice” in Brooklyn– a piece of the relics of St. Antipas of Valaam. Upon completion of the service, newly elected warden of St. Nicholas Church Pavel V. Varavko took the warden’s oath before the Cross and Gospel.

A bountiful luncheon was then served in the parish hall, prepared by the men of the parish for the women in honor of Mother’s Day (which took place one week prior). Click here for photographs from the minor patronal feast day.

Въ субботу 7 мая, Управляющій Патріаршими приходами въ США, Высокопреосвященнѣйшій архіепископъ Наро-Ѳоминскій Юстиніанъ, посѣтил Св. Владимірское кладбище въ Джексонѣ и возглавилъ панихиду въ Св. Іоанно-Предтеченской часовнѣ по всѣмъ воинамъ „на полѣ брани жизнь свою положившихъ за вѣру, царя и Отечество, въ тюрьмахъ и лагеряхъ замученныхъ и убіенныхъ“. На панихидѣ молились клирики мѣстныхъ приходовъ и представители зарубежныхъ казаковъ, при пѣніи мужского хора изъ Св. Георгіевскаго храма. Послѣ панихиды Владыка прошелъ по кладбищу и затѣмъ посѣтил сосѣдній Св. Владимірскій храмъ-памятникъ, гдѣ поклонился святынямъ храма и помолился у гробницъ приснопамятныхъ архіепископовъ Виталія (Максименко) и Никона (Рклицкаго).

Изъ Св. Владимірскаго храма Высокопреосвященнѣйшій владыка отбылъ въ Св. Георгіевскій храмъ, гдѣ его встрѣтили казаки и настоятель храма. Въ храмѣ былъ отслуженъ молебенъ св. великомуч. Георгію. Послѣ молебна о. Сергій привѣтствовалъ высокаго гостя и преподнесъ ему списокъ Казанской иконы Божіей Матери въ память о посѣщеніи Св. Георгіевскаго храма и о совмѣстной молитвѣ на кладбищѣ. Въ своемъ отвѣтномъ словѣ Владыка выразилъ благодарность за теплый пріемъ и подарилъ приходу образъ препп. Павла Ѳивейскаго и Іоанна Кущника. On Saturday, May 7, the Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA, His Eminence Justinian, Archbishop of Naro-Fominsk, visited St. Vladimir’s Cemetery in Jackson and led a panihida at St. John the Baptist Chapel for all those warriors who “had laid down their lives on the field of battle for Faith, Tsar, and Fatherland, for those tortured and killed in prisons and camps.” Praying at the panihida were clergy from local parishes and representatives of Cossack organizations throughout the Diaspora; the service was sung by the male choir of St. George’s Church. After the panihida, His Eminence viewed the cemetery and then visited neighboring St. Vladimir Memorial Church, where he venerated the church’s relics and holy icons and prayed at the tombs of the ever-memorable Archbishops Vitaly (Maximenko) and Nikon (Rklitsky).

From St. Vladimir Church, His Eminence departed for St. George’s Church, where the Cossacks and parish rector greeted him. A moleben to St. George was served in the church. After the moleben, Fr. Serge greeted his distinguished guest and presented him a copy of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, in honor of his visit to St. George’s Church and their joint prayer at the cemetery. In his response, Archbishop Justinian expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and presented the parish with an icon of the venerable Sts. Paul of Thebes and John Calabytes. Георгіевскомъ храмѣ прошли праздничныя богослуженія въ день престольнаго праздника и тезоименитства викарія Восточно-Американской и Нью-Іоркской епархіи, Преосвященнѣйшаго епископа Мэйфильдскаго Георгія.

Въ среду вечеромъ, Всенощное бдѣніе возглавилъ еп. Георгій, въ сослуженіи благочиннаго третьяго благочинническаго округа протопр. Валерія Лукьянова, о. Іоны, іерея Сергія Силвы и діак. Наѳана Мусселли (клирики Св. Александро-Невскаго собора въ Лейквудѣ). Въ храмѣ молились и пѣли въ хорѣ клирики Св. Георгіевскаго храма: настоятель о. Сергій и о. Леонидъ, а также клирики Св. Владимірскаго храма-памятника: зам. настоятеля іерей Сергій Ледковскій и діак. Павелъ Дроздовскій. Особое благолѣпіе богослуженію придало пѣніе мужского хора подъ управленіемъ о. настоятеля.

На слѣдующее утро, Божественную литургію возглавилъ Преосвященнѣйшій викарій, въ сослуженіи прот. Виктора Цешковскаго (настоятель храма Рождества Пресвятой Богородицы при Новой Коренной Пустыни въ Магопакѣ, шт. Нью-Іоркъ), о. Сергія, прот. Павла Шафрана (клирикъ Св. Владимірскаго храма въ Трентонѣ), прот. Сергія Кухарскаго (клирикъ Благовѣщенскаго храма въ Брикѣ), іерея Ильи Гана, іерея Бориса Слуцкаго (настоятель Радосте-Скорбященскаго храма въ Мейсъ-Ландингѣ), о. Іоны, о. Сергія Силвы и о. Леонида. По окончаніи Литургіи былъ совершенъ крестный ходъ вокругъ храма и молебенъ св. великомуч. Георгію.

Отъ имени Высокопреосвященнѣйшаго митрополита Иларіона, Преосвященнѣйшаго епископа Іеронима и всей полноты Восточно-Американской епархіи, по случаю тезоименитсва, еп. Георгія приветствовалъ въ качествѣ секретаря епархіи о. Сергій, и преподнесъ Его Преосвященству икону св. великомуч. Георгія.

On Thursday the 5th and Friday the 6th of May, on the feast day of the holy Great-Martyr and Trophy-Bearer St. George, festal divine services were held in St. George’s Church on the occasion of our parish’s patronal feast day and the namesday of His Grace, Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop George of Mayfield.

On Wednesday evening, Bishop George led the All-Night Vigil, co-served by New Jersey Dean Protopresbyter Valery Lukianov, Fr. Jonah, and Priest Sergio Silva and Deacon Nathan Mousselli (clerics of St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Lakewood). Also praying in church and singing in the choir were the rector, Fr. Serge, and Fr. Leonid, as well as clerics of St. Vladimir Memorial Church: deputy rector Priest Serge Ledkovsky and Deacon Paul Drozdowski. The singing of the male choir under the direction of the rector lent the service an air of particular splendor.

The following morning, His Grace celebrated the Divine Liturgy, co-served by Archpriest Victor Tseshkovsky (rector of the Nativity of the Mother of God Church at the New Kursk Root Hermitage in Mahopac), Fr. Serge, Archpriest Paul Shafran (pastor emeritus of St. Vladimir Church in Trenton), Archpriest Sergius Kuharsky (cleric of Holy Annunciation Church in Brick), Priest Ilya Gun, Priest Boris Slootsky (rector of the Church of the Mother of God in Mays Landing), Fr. Jonah, Fr. Sergio Silva, and Fr. Leonid. Upon completion of the Liturgy, a procession was held around the church, and a moleben was served to St. George.

On behalf of His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion, His Grace, Bishop Jerome, and the entire Eastern American Diocese, Fr. Serge, in his capacity as diocesan secretary, greeted Bishop George on the occasion of his namesday, and presented His Grace with an icon of St. George.

After the service, the parish sisterhood prepared a bountiful luncheon in the Cossack hall in honor of the feast day and His Grace’s namesday. The luncheon was adorned by the singing of a gypsy band under the direction of Vasily Yankovich (Romani), which performed Russian and gypsy classics and folk songs. Click here for photos.

On Thomas Sunday, May 11, the Divine Liturgy was served in St. Vladimir’s Cemetery in Jackson, NJ, in St. John the Baptist Chapel. The Liturgy was celebrated by Fr. Serge, co-served by Fr. Leonid. Fr. Jonah sang with the choir and communed with the clergy. After the Liturgy, a traditional general Litany for the Departed was served at the Cossack memorial, in which the clergy commemorated the founder of the chapel, Archbishop Nikon (Rklitsky), all of the rectors, most August atamans, Cossacks, all those who perished on the field of battle for the faith, the Tsar, and the homeland, and all those who suffered and died in prisons and camps. ХРИСТОСЪ ВОСКРЕСЕ!!!
Въ пасхальное утро настоятель возглавилъ торжественную пасхальную заутреню и Литургію въ Св. Николаевскомъ храмѣ, въ сослуженіи приходского духовенства. Храмъ былъ наполненъ до отказа богомольцами, которые пришли отмѣтить праздниковъ праздникъ – Святое Христово Воскресеніе. Праздничное пѣніе и колокольный звонъ прозвучали по улицамъ Редъ-Банка, возвѣщая всему городу, что воистину Христосъ воскресъ изъ мертвыхъ и попралъ смертную силу. Во время запричастныхъ провозгласили пасхальное посланіе Святѣйшаго Патріарха Московскаго и всея Руси Кирилла на русскомъ и англійскомъ языкахъ. CHRIST IS RISEN!!!
On Easter morn, the rector led the triumphal Paschal Matins and Divine Liturgy in St. Nicholas Church, co-served by the parish clergy. The church was filled to capacity with the faithful, who came to mark the feast of feasts – the Glorious Resurrection of Christ. The festal singing and peal of the bells resounded throughout Red Bank, proclaiming to the whole city that Christ is truly risen from the dead and has trampled death’s power. During the communion of the clergy, the Paschal epistle of His Holiness, Patriarch Kyrill, was read aloud in Russian and English. Въ Велиую Субботу, въ Св. Георгіевскомъ храмѣ возглавилъ Божественную литургiю настоятель, въ сослуженіи о. Іоны и о. Леонида. Молодежь прихода читала паримiи, т.е. чтенiя изъ Ветхаго Завѣта, перечисляющiя исторiю человѣческаго спасенiя, хвалящія Всемогущаго и предвозвѣщающiя о пришествiи и жизни Господа и Спасителя нашего Іисуса Христа. Во время чтенiя Апостола, совершалось переоблаченiе храма, изъ Великопостнаго чернаго и траурнаго въ свѣтлыя, бѣлыя пасхальныя облаченiя. Было особенно радостно видѣть, что каждый человѣкъ въ храмѣ причастился Святыхъ Таинъ, тѣмъ самымъ соединяясь другъ со другомъ во Христѣ. Дѣйствительно, „Сія Суббота есть преблагословенная!“. April 23, 2010 - Great Saturday
On Great Saturday, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated by the rector in St. George’s Church, co-served by Fr. Jonah and Fr. Leonid. The parish youth read readings from the Old Testament, outlining the history of mankind’s salvation, glorifying the Almighty, and foretelling the coming and life of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. During the reading of the Epistle, the vestments were changed from the mournful black of Great Lent to the joyous white vestments of Pascha. It was hard not to be overjoyed, seeing every person in church come to partake of the Holy Mysteries, in so doing uniting one with another in Christ. Truly, “This is the most blessed Sabbath!” After the Liturgy, the faithful returned home, anxiously awaiting the coming of the Paschal night. Click here for photographs of Great Saturday.

Въ Великій Пятокъ, самый день Страстей и Смерти Господа и Бога и Спаса нашего Іисуса Христа, день когда каждая христіанская душа призывается на покаяніе и состраданіе, прихожане собралисъ на чтеніе царскихъ часовъ передъ святымъ Распятіемъ въ Св. Георгiевскомъ храмѣ. Затѣмъ начилась вечерня, и всѣ съ дерзновеніемъ ждали выноса тѣла Спасителя въ образѣ святой плащаницы. Діаконъ прочиталъ послѣднее чтеніе о честныхъ страданіяхъ Спасителя, послѣ чего священники вынесли Святую плащаницу Іисуса, пока вѣрующіе стояли на колѣняхъ и хоръ пѣлъ тропарь „Благообразный Іосифъ“.

Вечеромъ богомольцы вновъ собрались въ Георгіевскомъ храмѣ на утреню Великой Субботы съ чиномъ погребенія Спасителя. Погребеніе завершилось крестнымъ ходомъ и чтеніемъ перваго Евангелія о Воскресеніи, когда жены-мvроносицы пришли ко гробу и тамъ встрѣтилъ ихъ ангелъ, благовѣствуя имъ пасхальную радость. Въ первый разъ за весь годъ провозгласились слова, за которыми стоятъ вся надежда и все упованіе христіанъ: „Да воскреснетъ Богъ, и расточатся врази Его“. April 22, 2011 - Great Friday
On Great Friday, the very day of our Lord and God and Savior Jesus Christ’s Passion and Death, a day when every Christian soul is called to repentance and co-suffering, parishioners gathered for the reading of the Royal Hours before the Holy Crucifix in St. George’s Church. The vespers service then began, and everyone waited with daring for the bringing out of the body of the Savior in His holy shroud. The deacon read the final passion gospel and then the priests brought out the holy shroud, while the faithful stood on their knees and the choir sang the troparion “The noble Joseph.”

That evening, the faithful gathered once again in St. George’s Church for the Great Saturday matins and burial service. The burial service concluded with a procession around the church and the reading of the first Gospel of the Resurrection, when the myrrh-bearing women came to the tomb and met the angel there, who proclaimed Paschal joy to them. For the first time this year, words were proclaimed that capture the essence of every Christian’s hope: “Let God arise, and let His enemies be scattered!” With these three words, “Let God arise,” we open our hearts to the whole world, letting everyone know that we give our selves over to Christ, and that His Resurrection epitomizes the entire meaning of our lives. Въ Великій Четвертокъ, когда Православный міръ вспоминаетъ Тайную вечерю, въ Св. Георгіевскомъ храмѣ настоятель о. Сергій возглавилъ вечерню съ Литургіей въ сослуженiи приходского духовенства – о. Іоны и о. Леонида. Въ этотъ великій день служится особая Литургія, за которой вмѣсто „Иже Херувимы“ поется „Вечери твоея тайныя днесь, Сыне Божій, причастника мя пріими“.

Вечеромъ прихожане еще разъ собрались въ Св. Геогіевскомъ храмѣ на утреню со чтеніемъ 12-ти Евангелiй. Въ своей проповѣди въ концѣ службы, о. Сергій призвалъ вѣрующихъ къ истинному покаянію и созданію духовнаго спокойства и тишины, чтобы достойно и благоговѣйно встрѣтить Святую Пасху. April 22, 2011 - Great Thursday
On Great Thursday, when the Orthodox world remembers the Mystical Supper, the Vespers service and Divine Liturgy were served in St. George’s Church by the rector, Fr. Serge, and parish clergy – Fr. Jonah and Fr. Leonid. On this great day, a special Liturgy is served, during which instead of the Cherubic hymn, we sing “Of Thy mystical supper O Son of God receive me today as a communicant.”

That night, parishioners gathered once more in St. George’s Church for the matins service with the Reading of the Twelve Passion Gospels. In his sermon, Fr. Serge called the faithful to true repentance and the foundation of spiritual peace and calm, that all might worthily and piously greet Holy Pascha. Въ субботу 16 апрѣля, наканунѣ великаго двунадесятаго праздника Входа Господня во Іерусалимъ, о. Сергій возглавилъ Всенощное бдѣніе въ Св. Георгіевскомъ храмѣ, въ сослуженіи о. Іоны и о. Леонида. Праздничную службы украшали пальмы и особыя пѣснопѣнія, которыя наполняли сердца вѣрующихъ радостью и ожиданіемъ Святой Христовой Пасхи.

On Saturday, April 16, on the eve of the great feast of the Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem, Fr. Serge served the All-Night Vigil in St. George’s Church, co-served by Fr. Jonah and Fr. Leonid. Palms and special hymns adorned the festal service, filling the hearts of the faithful with joy and excitement for the approaching feast of Christ’s Holy Pascha.

Во время пѣнiя мужскимъ хоромъ праздничныхъ стихиръ „Совѣтъ Превѣчный“, въ сердцахъ вѣрующихъ возсiялъ первый лучъ Пасхальнаго свѣта, вѣдь праздники Благовѣщенія и Похвалы возвѣщаютъ намъ, что осталось только двѣ недѣли до Свѣтлаго Христова Воскресенiя.

Въ среду 6го и въ четвергъ 7го апрѣля, прихожане собрались въ Св. Георгiевскомъ храмѣ, на двунадесятый праздникъ Благовѣщенiя Пресвятой Богородицы. Въ сей радостный день, Мать-Церковъ празднуетъ начало спасенiя рода человѣческаго, когда архангелъ Гаврiилъ благовѣстилъ Дѣвѣ Марiи, что Она родитъ Сына, Который спасетъ все человѣчество. Богослуженія возглавилъ о. настоятель въ сослуженіи приходского духовенства. Въ концѣ литургiи о. Іона привѣтствовалъ о. On Wednesday, April 6, Fr. Jonah served the Presanctified Liturgy in St. George’s Church, co-served by Fr. Leonid. This year, parishioners felt a special joy due to the fact that the feasts of the Annunciation and the Laudation fall during the same week. During the singing of the sticheras “The Pre-Eternal Counsel” by the male choir, the first ray of Paschal light shone in the hearts of the faithful, for the feasts of the Annunciation and Laudation remind us that only two weeks remain until the Glorious Resurrection of Our Lord.

On Wednesday the 6th and Thursday the 7th of April, parishioners gathered in St. George’s Church for the great feast of the Annunciation of the Mother of God. On this joyous day, the Holy Church celebrates the beginning of the salvation of the human race, when the Archangel Gabriel proclaimed the good tidings to the Virgin Mary that She would bear a Son Who would save all of mankind. The divine services were led by the rector, co-served by parish clergy. After the Liturgy, Fr. Jonah greeted Fr. Serge on behalf of the parish on the occasion of the latter’s namesday, after which Fr. Leonid intoned the Polychronion. Николаевскаго Патріаршаго собора въ Нью-Іоркѣ), прот. Давида Страута (настоятель храма преподобномуч. Елизаветы въ Роки-Хиллъ, шт. Нью-Джерси), іерея Леонида Гофермана (настоятель Покровскаго храма въ Нью-Брансвикѣ, шт. Нью-Джерси), о. Іоны, іерея Сергія Силвы (клирикъ Александро-Невскаго собора въ Лейквудѣ, шт. Нью-Джерси), о. On Sunday, April 4, local clergy performed the rite of Holy Unction in St. George’s Church in Howell, NJ. Holy Unction is a sacrament that, by blessing the believer’s body with oil, calls down God’s grace, healing one’s physical and spiritual infirmities. The performance of the sacrament was led by the rector, Fr. Serge, co-served by Archpriest Paul Shafran (pastor emeritus of St. Vladimir Church in Trenton, NJ), Archpriest Alexander Golubov (cleric of St. Nicholas Patriarchal Cathedral in New York), Archpriest David Straut (rector of St. Elizabeth the New Martyr Church in Rocky Hill, NJ), Priest Leonid Goferman (rector of Holy Virgin Protection Church in New Brunswick, NJ), Fr. Jonah, Priest Sergio Silva (cleric of St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Lakewood, NJ), Fr. Leonid, and Deacon Nathan Mousselli (cleric of St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Lakewood, NJ).

A multitude of the faithful gathered for the unction service from across the New Jersey deanery, in order that they might repent of their sins and be cleansed before the great feast of Christ’s Resurrection. Everyone listened attentively and reverently to the seven Gospel readings and seven Epistle readings, as well as to the touching prayers and canon that penetrate the human heart and summon feelings of true repentance. Въ субботу вечеромъ 26 марта, въ недѣлю Крестопоклонную, приходскимъ духовенствомъ была отслужена Всенощная въ Св. Георгіевскомъ храмѣ. Во время Великаго славословiя о. Сергій совершилъ чинъ Выноса Креста съ особымъ крестомъ, въ которомъ находится частица Животворящаго Древа Господня и мощи различныхъ святыхъ. На слѣдующее утро была отслужена Божественная литургія, за которой большинство богомольцевъ причащались свв. Христовыхъ Таинъ.

Въ понедѣльникъ утромъ, съ благословеніемъ еп. Георгія, о. Іона, въ сопровожденіи приходскихъ чтецовъ, отбылъ въ Зап. Вирджинію въ Крестовоздвиженскій монастырь для великопостнаго говѣнія. Паломники молились на великопостныхъ службахъ, исполняли послушанія и общались съ монастырскимъ духовенствомъ и насельниками. Въ среду утромъ 30 марта, о. Іона сослужилъ іером. On Saturday evening, March 26, the eve of the Sunday of the Veneration of the Cross, the parish clergy served the All-Night Vigil in St. George’s Church. During the Great Doxology, Fr. Serge performed the rite of the Bringing out of the Cross, using a special cross containing a piece of the True Cross and the relics of various saints. The following morning, the Divine Liturgy was served, during which a majority of the faithful communed of Christ’s Holy Gifts.

On Monday morning, with the blessing of Bishop George, Fr. Jonah, accompanied by parish readers, departed to West Virginia for Holy Cross Monastery, for a Lenten retreat. The pilgrims prayed at the monastery’s Lenten services, performed various obediences, and spent time with monastery clergy and the monks. On Wednesday, March 30, Fr. Jonah concelebrated the Presanctified Liturgy with Hieromonk Andrew. The pilgrims returned on March 31. Click here for photos.

Въ среду 16 марта, въ третью годовщину блаженной кончины приснопамятнаго митрополита Лавра, въ Св. Георгіевскомъ храмѣ была отслужена Преждеосвященная Литургія въ присутствіи чудотворной Курской Коренной иконы Божіей Матери. Литургію возглавилъ о. Сергій, въ сослуженіи о. Леонида. Въ храмѣ молились прот. Зоранъ Радовичъ (настоятель Св. Георгіевскаго сербскаго храма въ Елизаветградѣ), іерей Леонидъ Гоферманъ (настоятель Покровскаго храма въ Нью-Брансвикѣ) и о. Іона.

По окончаніи Литургіи, духовенство соборно отслужило панихиду по митр. Лавру и новопреставленному митр. Николаю (Смышко). Послѣ панихиды о. Сергій обратился къ собравшимся богомольцамъ съ словомъ о блаженнопочившемъ Первоіерархѣ, отмѣтивъ, что Владыка сумѣлъ объединить двѣ части Русской Церкви, подобно двумъ частямъ разрубленной Курской иконы. On Wednesday, March 16, on the third anniversary of the blessed repose of the ever-memorable Metropolitan Laurus, the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts was served in St. George’s Church, in the presence of the wonderworking Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God. Fr. Serge Lukianov served the Liturgy, co-served Fr. Leonid. Praying in church were Archpriest Zoran Radovic (rector of St. George’s Serbian Church in Elizabeth), Priest Leonid Goferman (rector of Holy Virgin Protection Church in New Brunswick), and Fr. Jonah.

Upon completion of the Liturgy, the clergy served a panihida for Metropolitan Laurus and for the newly departed Metropolitan Nicholas (Smisko). After the panihida, Fr. Serge addressed the gathered worshipers with a sermon on the First Hierarch of blessed repose, noting that His Eminence was able to reunite the Russian Church, similar to the reunification of the two parts of the severed Kursk Icon. Въ субботу 12го и воскресенье 13го марта, въ недѣлю Торжества Православія, настоятель возглавилъ богослуженія въ Св. Георгіевскомъ храмѣ въ сослуженіи приходского духовенства. Въ субботу вечеромъ во время Всенощнаго бдѣнія состоялась исповѣдь всего прихода. Слава Богу, изъ-за большого количества причастниковъ, въ воскресенье причащали вѣрующихъ изъ двухъ чашъ. On Saturday the 12th and Sunday the 13th of March, on the feast of the Triumph of Orthodoxy, the rector led the divine services in St. George’s Church, co-served by the parish clergy. On Saturday evening, during the All-Night Vigil, confessions were heard for the whole parish. Thanks be to God, due to the large number of communicants, on Sunday the faithful were communed out of two chalices. In his sermon, Fr. Serge congratulated all those who had communed on the communion of Christ’s Holy Mysteries, and called upon all to come to Holy Communion frequently during Great Lent. Click here for photos.

After the Liturgy, Fr. Serge and Fr. Leonid departed for the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City to take the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God to St. John the Baptist Church in Perth Amboy. See the diocesan website here.

На первой седмицѣ Великаго поста богослуженiя проходятъ каждый день въ Св. Георгіевскомъ храмѣ. По утрамъ совершается утреня, великопостные часы и вечерня. По вечерамъ совершается Великое повечеріе съ чтеніемъ Великаго покаяннаго канона преп. Андрея Критскаго. До Повечерія совершается заупокойная литія, за которой поминаются всѣ почившіе архіереи, настоятели, ктиторы, атаманы, казаки, прихожане и всѣ православные христіаны. Въ концѣ канона священники читаютъ духовное поученіе.

On the first week of Great Lent, the divine services are being served in St. George’s Church every day. The matins, Lenten hours, and vespers are served every morning. In the evenings, the Great Compline with the penitential Great Canon of St. Andrew of Crete is read. Before the Compline, a litany for the departed is served, during which all of the former hierarchs, rectors, benefactors, Cossacks, parishioners, and all Orthodox Christians are commemorated. After the Canon each night, the priests read a spiritual reading aloud.

On Wednesday morning, after Matins and Lenten hours, the first Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts in 2010 was served. Click here for photographs.

Въ субботу 5 марта, въ приходской трапезной Св. Николаевскаго храма прошло Общее годовое собранiе прихода подъ предсѣдательствомъ о. настоятеля. Старостой Св. Николаевскаго храма былъ избранъ Павелъ Викторовичъ Варавко, а старостой Св. Георгіевскаго храма остается долголѣтній прихожанинъ Іоаннъ Георгіевичъ Римакисъ. На церковно-приходской совѣтъ были избраны мат. Маргарита Рожкова (казначей), чт. Григорiй Левитскiй (cекретарь), чт. Олегъ Варавко, Елизавета Ѳомична Ясыкъ и Виталій Эдуардовичъ Конофольскій. Въ составъ совѣта также входять по должности о. Сергій, о. Iона, о. Леонидъ и старшая сестра мат. Любовь Лукьянова. На ревизiонную комиссiю были избраны Давидъ Георгiевичъ Селикъ (предсѣдатель), Александра Константиновна Романовская, Анна Iоакимовна Сигалисъ и запосной членъ Василiй Васильевичъ Кобашъ. Послѣ собранія была отслужена Всенощная въ Николаевскомъ храмѣ, по случаю Сыропустной недѣли.

6го марта, въ Прощеное воскресенье, Божественную литургію возглавилъ о. настоятель въ сослуженіи приходскихъ клириковъ. Послѣ Литургіи была отслужена вечерня и мы впервые въ этомъ году услышали слова преп. Ефрема Сирина: „Господи и Владыко живота моего, духъ праздности, унынія, любоначалія и празднословія не даждь ми“. Эта дивная и вдохновенная покаяніемъ молитва призываетъ всѣхъ православныхъ вѣрующихъ отложить все мiрское, и начать время покаянія, молитвы и трезвенія – время Святого и Великаго поста. Послѣ вечерни о. Сергій обратился къ богомольцамъ съ напутственнымъ словомъ въ преддверiи Святой Четыредесятницы въ которой призвалъ собравшихся не уклонияться отъ богослуженія.

Затѣмъ всѣ вмѣстѣ пропѣли пасхальныя стихиры „Да Воскреснетъ Богъ“ и просили другъ у друга прощенiя передъ началомъ Великаго поста. Да поможетъ намъ Господь „поститься постомъ прiятнымъ“!

On Saturday, March 5, the Annual General Meeting was held in St. Nicholas parish hall, chaired by the rector. Elected warden of St. Nicholas Church was Pavel V. Varavko, while John G. Rimakis was elected warden of St. George’s Church. Elected to the Church Council were Matushka Margarita Roschko (treasurer), Reader Gregory Levitsky (secretary), Reader Oleg Varavko, Elizabeth T. Yasuk, and Vitaly E. Konofolsky. Also on the Council by virtue of their holding other posts in the parish are the rector, Fr. Jonah, Fr. Leonid, and the head sister Matushka Lubov Lukianov. Elected to the Auditing Committee were David Selick (president), Alexandra K. Romanofsky, Ana J. Sigalas and Vasily V. Kobasz as auxiliary member. The All-Night Vigil for Cheesefare Sunday was then served in St. Nicholas Church.

On March 6, Forgiveness Sunday, the rector celebrated the Divine Liturgy, co-served by parish clergy. After the Liturgy, vespers were served and we heard for the first time this year the words of the venerable St. Ephrem the Syrian: “O Lord and Master of my life, a spirit of idleness, despondency, ambition, and idle talking give me not.” This marvelous prayer, inspired by penitence, calls all Orthodox faithful to set aside everything temporal and begin a period of repentance, prayer, and temperance – the period of the Holy and Great Lent. After vespers, Fr. Serge addressed the worshipers with a valedictory sermon on the threshold of the Fast.

Everyone present than sang the Paschal sticheras, “Let God arise,” and asked one another forgiveness before the beginning of the Great Tessaracost. May God help us to “present a good fast!”

Въ субботу 5го и воскресенье 6го февраля, въ недѣлю свв. Новомучениковъ и Исповѣдниковъ Россійскихъ, чудотворная Курская Коренная икона Божіей Матери посѣтила Св. Георгіевскій храмъ. Подъ колокольнымъ звономъ встрѣтили икону клирики и прихожане храма. Всенощное бдѣніе возглавилъ о. настоятель, въ сослуженіи іерея Леонида Гофермана (настоятель Покровскаго храма въ г. Нью-Брансвикъ) и приходскихъ клириковъ о. Іоны и о. Леонида. Въ храмѣ также молился прот. Андрей Зиновьевъ (настоятель Никольскаго храма въ Старомъ Осколѣ), прибывшій въ Америку вмѣстѣ съ россійскимъ спортсменомъ Ѳеодоромъ Владиміровичемъ Емельяненко который, желая приложиться къ святынѣ, прибылъ въ Св. Георгіевскій храмъ.

На слѣдующее утро былъ отслуженъ акаѳистъ Пресвятой Богородицѣ, и затѣмъ Божественная литургія, которую возглавилъ о. Сергій, въ сослуженіи вышеупомянутаго духовенства (за исключеніемъ о. Андрея). Въ храмѣ также молился архидіак. Евгеній Бурбело (клирикъ Знаменскаго Синодальнаго собора). Почти всѣ въ храмѣ причастились свв. Христовыхъ Таинъ, и по окончаніи Литургіи о. On Saturday the 5th and Sunday the 6th of February, the feast day of the Holy New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia, the wonderworking Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God visited St. George’s Church. Parish clerics and faithful greeted the Icon to the peal of bells. The rector served the All-Night Vigil, co-served by Priest Leonid Goferman (rector of Holy Virgin Protection Church in New Brunswick) and parish clerics Fr. Jonah and Fr. Leonid. Also praying in church was Archpriest Andrei Zinoviev (rector of St. Nicholas Church in Staryy Oskol), who was visiting America with Russian mixed martial artist Fedor Emelianenko who, desiring to venerate the holy icon, visited St. George’s Church.

The following morning, an akathist to the Most Holy Theotokos was served, followed by the Divine Liturgy which was celebrated by Fr. Serge, co-served by the above-mentioned clergy (with the exception of Fr. Andrei). Also praying in church during the Divine Liturgy was Archdeacon Eugene Burbelo (cleric of the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign). Virtually everyone in church communed of the Holy Mysteries, and upon completion of the Liturgy, Fr. Serge addressed the faithful with a sermon on the wonders performed by the Mother of God through this holy icon. Click here for photographs.

Въ понедѣльникъ 17го и вторникъ 18го января, службы въ день Навечерія Крещенія прошли въ Св. Георгіевскомъ храмѣ. По окончаніи Божественной литургіи, о. Іона совершилъ Великое освященiе воды. Во вторникъ вечеромъ, наканунѣ праздника Св. Богоявленія, прихожане вновь собрались въ Св. Георгіевскомъ храмѣ для праздничнаго Всенощнаго бдѣнія. На слѣдующее утро, Божественная литургія была отслужена въ Св. Николаевскомъ храмѣ, по окончаніи котораго было совершенно о. настоятелемъ Великое освященiе воды. Послѣ Литургіи продолжалась ежегодная традиція освященія мѣстной рѣки „Навасинкъ“. Въ этомъ году, изъ-за снѣга было недоступно обычное мѣсто, гдѣ совершается освященіе. Но, не желая пропустить онду изъ своихъ любимыхъ церковныхъ традицій, богомольцы до начала службы нашли новое мѣсто гдѣ можно было бы воду освятить. On Monday the 17th and Tuesday the 18th, services were served for the Eve of the Theophany of Our Lord. Upon completion of the Divine Liturgy, Fr. Jonah performed the Great Blessing of the water. On Tuesday evening, the eve of the great feast of Holy Theophany, parishioners gathered once more in St. George’s for the festal All-Night Vigil. The following morning, the Divine Liturgy was served in St. Nicholas Church, followed by the blessing of the water by the rector. After the Liturgy, parishioners continued their annual tradition of blessing the local Navesink River. This year, because of a heavy accumulation of snow, the usual spot for blessing the river was inaccessible. But, not wishing to miss one of their favorite church traditions, the faithful found a new place by a local hotel where they could bless the river. After the blessing of the waters, three pilgrims from Kursk waded in. A bountiful luncheon then served in the parish hall. Click here for photographs.

Въ четвергъ 6 января, въ Св. Георгіевскомъ храмѣ были отслужены Царскіе часы и Вечерня съ Божественной литургіей свят. Василія Великаго. Вечеромъ, приходское духовенство отслужило Великое повечеріе и утреню.

На слѣдующее утро, въ великій и двунадесятый праздникъ Рождества Господа и Спаса нашего Іисуса Христа, въ Св. Георгіевскомъ храмѣ была отслужена Божественная литургія. Службу возглавилъ настоятель о. Сергій, въ сослуженіи о. Іоны и о. Леонида. Во время запричастныхъ было провозглашено Рождественское посланіе Святѣйшаго Патріарха Московскаго и всея Руси Кирилла. Почти каждый въ храмѣ причастился свв. Христовыхъ Таинъ.

Въ субботу 8 января, въ праздникъ Собора Пресвятой Богородицы, была отслужена Божественная литургія, а вечеромъ Всенощная. На слѣдующее утро, въ недѣлю свв. Богоотецъ (а также въ день св. первомуч. и архидіак. Стефана), состоялось совмѣстное служеніе Божественной литургіи въ Св. Владимірскомъ храмѣ-памятникѣ въ Джексонѣ. О. Сергію Лукьянову сослужили зам. настоятеля храма-памятника іерей Сергій Ледковскій, о. Іона, о. Леонидъ и приходской діак. Павелъ Дроздовскій. Во время запричастныхъ было провозглашено Рождественское посланіе Первоіерарха Русской Зарубежной Церкви, Высокопреосвященнѣйшаго митрополита Иларіона.

По окончаніи Литургіи былъ предложенъ праздничный обѣдъ и затѣмъ прошла приходская Ёлка, въ которой приняли участіе дѣти обоихъ приходовъ.

On Thursday, January 6, the Royal Hours and Vespers with Divine Liturgy of St. Basil the Great were served in St. George’s Church. That evening, parish clergy served the Great Compline and Matins.

The following morning, on the great feast of the Nativity of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the Divine Liturgy was served in St. George’s Church. The service was led by the rector, Fr. Serge, co-served by Fr., Jonah and Fr. Leonid. During the communion of the clergy, the Nativity Epistle of His Holiness Kyrill, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, was read aloud. Virtually everyone present communed of Christ’s Holy Mysteries.

On Saturday, January 8, on the feast of the Synaxis of the Most Holy Theotokos, the Divine Liturgy was served, followed by the All-Night Vigil that evening. The following morning, on the Sunday of the Holy Ancestors of God (also the feast of St. Stephen the Archdeacon and Protomartyr), the Divine Liturgy was jointly celebrated in St. Vladimir Memorial Church in Jackson. Fr. Serge Lukianov was co-served by the memorial church’s deputy rector, Priest Serge Ledkovsky, Fr. Jonah, Fr. Leonid, and parish Deacon Paul Drozdowski. During the communion of the clergy, the Nativity Epistle of His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, was read aloud.

Upon completion of the Liturgy, a festal luncheon was offered, followed by the parish Yolka, in which children of both parishes took part.

Въ воскресенье 19 декабря, въ день памяти святителя Николая, Мирликійскихъ Чудотворца, Преосвященнѣйшій епископъ Манхеттенскій Іеронимъ возглавилъ Божественную литургію въ Св. Николаевскомъ храмѣ по случаю нашего престольнаго праздника.

Передъ началомъ Литургіи былъ совершенъ чинъ малаго освященія воды и затѣмъ состоялась встрѣча еп. Іеронима. Владыкѣ сослужили настоятель храма, клирики прихода іерей Іона и діак. Леонидъ, а также протод. Димитрій Темидисъ (клирикъ Покровскаго храма въ Наякѣ).

По окончаніи Литургіи, отецъ Сергій привѣтствовалъ Владыку Іеронима, благодаря его за архипастырскій визитъ. Затѣмъ Владыка преподнесъ подарки старостѣ Николаю Евгеньевичу Бурбело и алтарникамъ, празднующимъ свой день Ангела: Николаю Леонидовичу Рожкову и Николаю Георгіевичу Левитскому. Послѣ службы въ приходскомъ залѣ была предложена праздничная трапеза, за которой приходскимъ дѣтямъ и молодежи раздали подарочки въ честь престольнаго праздника и архипастырскаго визита – браслеты съ иконами, и шоколадки. On Sunday, December 19, the feast day of St. Nicholas, Wonderworker of Myra in Lycia, His Grace Jerome, Bishop of Manhattan, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in St. Nicholas Church, on our parish’s patronal feast day.

Before the start of Liturgy, the rite of the blessing of the water was performed, followed by the greeting of Bishop Jerome. His Grace was co-served by the parish rector, parish clerics Priest Jonah and Deacon Leonid, and Protodeacon Dimitri Temidis (cleric of Holy Virgin Protection Church in Nyack).

Upon completion of the Liturgy, Fr. Serge greeted Bishop Jerome, thanking him for his archpastoral visit. His Grace then presented gifts to the warden, Nicholas E. Burbelo, and to the altar servers who were celebrating their namesdays: Nikolai Roschko and Nicholas Levitsky. After the service, a festal luncheon was served in the parish hall, during which presents, consisting of icon bracelets and chocolates, were given to the parish children in honor of the parish feast day and archpastoral visit. Въ воскресенье 14 ноября, въ Редъ-Банкѣ отмѣтили 60-лѣтіе со дня основанія Св. Николаевскаго прихода. Въ субботу вечеромъ, Всенощное бдѣніе возглавилъ настоятель храма прот. Сергій Лукьяновъ, въ сослуженіи іерея Іоны, діак. Леонида и діак. Павла Дроздовскаго (клирикъ Св. Владимірскаго храма-памятника въ Джексонѣ). Передъ началомъ Бдѣнія была отслужена панихида по всѣмъ настоятелямъ, строителямъ и прихожанамъ Св. Николаевскаго храма.

Въ воскресенье утромъ Божественную литургію возглавилъ Первоіерархъ Русской Зарубежной Церкви, Высокопреосвященнѣйшій митрополитъ Восточно-Американскій и Нью-Іоркскій Иларіонъ. Его Высокопреосвященству сослужили вышеупомянутое духовенство, а также прот. Филиппъ Петровскій (настоятель Покровской англійской миссіи въ Джексонѣ) и архидіак. Евгеній Бурбело (клирикъ Знаменскаго Синодальнаго собора).

За усердное служеніе Св. Церкви, на маломъ входѣ, Митрополитъ наградилъ о. Іону правомъ ношенія набедренника, и о. Леонида правомъ ношенія двойного ораря.

На Литургіи присутствовали градоначальникъ Редъ-Банка Паскуале Менна и представители скаутскаго отряда имени св. благов. вел. кн. Александра Невскаго (Организація Россійскихъ Юныхъ Развѣдчиковъ).

Въ концѣ службы, Первоіерархъ поздравилъ прихожанъ со знаменательной датой 60-лѣтія со дня основанія прихода и преподнесъ о. настоятелю Благословенную грамоту для всего прихода. Градоначальникъ Паскуале Менна привѣтствовалъ Первоіерарха по случаю архипастырскаго визита въ Редъ-Банкъ и поздравилъ прихожанъ съ радостнымъ юбилеемъ. Отъ имени мѣстнаго самоуправленія, г-нъ Менна передалъ приходу поздравительную грамоту. Также было прочитано привѣтствіе отъ благочиннаго 3-го благочинническаго округа протопр. Валерія Лукьянова.

По окончаніи Литургіи была предложена обильная трапеза въ мѣстномъ залѣ Католическаго храма Рождества Христова, за которой было произнесено много теплыхъ словъ и привѣтствій. Во время трапезы был преставленъ монтажъ фотографій исторіи прихода.

On Sunday, November 14, parishioners marked the 60th anniversary of the founding of St. Nicholas Church in Red Bank. On Saturday evening, parish rector Archpriest Serge Lukianov led the All-Night Vigil, co-served by Priest Jonah, Deacon Leonid, and Deacon Paul Drozdowski (cleric of St. Vladimir Memorial Church in Jackson). Before the start of the Vigil, a panihida was served for all of the past rectors, builders, and parishioners of St. Nicholas Church.

On Sunday morning, the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, His Eminence Hilarion, Metropolitan of Eastern America and New York, celebrated the Divine Liturgy. His Eminence was co-served by the above-mentioned clergy, as well as Archpriest Philip Petrovsky (rector of Holy Virgin Protection English Mission in Jackson) and Archdeacon Eugene Burbelo (cleric of the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign).

During the Small Entrance, the Metropolitan awarded Fr. Jonah the right to wear the nabedrennik, and Fr. Leonid the right to wear the double orarion, for their ardent service to the Holy Church.

Present during the Liturgy was Red Bank Mayor Pasquale Menna, who stood alongside scout representatives of the St. Alexander Nevsky Division of St. George Pathfinders of America.

At the end of the service, the First Hierarch congratulated parishioners on the significant occasion of the 60th anniversary of the parish’s founding, and presented the rector with a Synodal gramata for the whole parish. Mayor Pasquale Menna then greeted the First Hierarch on the occasion of his archpastoral visit to Red Bank, and congratulated parishioners with this joyous milestone. On behalf of the local government, Mr. Menna presented the parish with a congratulatory proclamation. Also read was a greeting from the Dean of New Jersey, Protopresbyter Valery Lukianov.

Upon completion of the Liturgy, a bountiful luncheon was offered in the hall of the local Holy Nativity Catholic Church, during which many warm words and greetings were expressed. During the luncheon, a photomontage of the parish’s history was presented.

Въ среду 3 ноября, мѵроточивая Гавайская икона Иверской Божіей Матери посѣтила Св. Георгіевскій храмъ. Въ 19:00 ч., Преосвященнѣйшій епископъ Мэйфильдскій Георгій встрѣтилъ чудотворный образъ подъ колокольнымъ звономъ и съ крестнымъ ходомъ. Послѣ торжественной встрѣчи, Преосвященнѣйшій Владыка обратился къ богомольцамъ и призвалъ всѣхъ къ покаянію и исправленію своей жизни и выразилъ надежду, что молитвами Пресвятой Богородицы въ сердцахъ вѣрующихъ возсіяетъ благодатный Свѣтъ Христовъ. Владыка также призвалъ всѣхъ вознести свои молитвы о Первоіерархѣ Русской Зарубежной Церкви митр. Иларіонѣ, который въ тотъ день отмѣчалъ день своего небеснаго покровителя.

Затѣмъ соборно былъ отслуженъ молебенъ съ акаѳистомъ Пресвятой Богородицѣ на славянскомъ и англійскомъ языкахъ. Еп. Георгію сослужили настоятель храма о. Сергій, прот. Зоранъ Радовичъ (настоятель Св. Георгіевскаго сербскаго храма въ Елизаветградѣ, шт. Нью-Джерси), іерей Алексій Бочарниковъ (настоятель Св. Николаевскаго храма въ Честерѣ, шт. Пенсильванія) и о.о. Іона и Леонидъ. Въ храмѣ также молился клирикъ Св. Владимірскаго храма-памятника діак. Александръ Смида.

Вѣрующіе наполнили храмъ до отказа и несмотря на то, что было достаточно холодно, многіе стояли и молились на дворѣ. Въ теченіе всего акаѳиста, икона обильно источала святое мѵро и наполнила храмъ благодатнымъ благоуханіемъ.

Послѣ акаѳиста о. настоятель привѣтствовалъ хранителя мѵроточивой иконы чт. Нектарія Янгстона и преподнесъ ему списокъ Тихвинской иконы Божіей Матери въ благодарность отъ всего прихода. Пока вѣрующіе прикладывались къ иконѣ, Владыка помазывалъ всѣхъ благодатнымъ мѵромъ, а хоръ исполнялъ разныя пѣснопѣнія Божіей Матери. On Wednesday, November 3, the myrrh-streaming Hawaiian-Iveron Icon of the Mother of God visited St. George’s Church. At 7:00 PM, His Grace George, Bishop of Mayfield, greeted the wonder-working icon in procession to the peal of bells. After the triumphal greeting, His Grace addressed worshipers, calling them all to repentance and correction of their lives, and expressing his hope that, by the prayers of the Most Holy Theotokos, Christ’s grace-filled Light might shine in the hearts of the faithful. Bishop George also called on everyone to lift up their prayers for Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, who on that day was celebrating his namesday.

The general singing of the akathist to the Most Holy Theotokos was then performed in Slavonic and English. Bishop George was co-served by parish rector Fr. Serge, Archpriest Zoran Radovic (rector of St. George’s Serbian Church in Elizabeth, NJ), Priest Alexey Bocharnikov (rector of St. Nicholas Church in Chester, PA), and Frs. Jonah and Leonid. Also present in church was St. Vladimir Memorial Church cleric Deacon Alexander Smida.

The faithful filled the church to capacity and, despite the fairly cold weather, many stood and prayed outside. During the course of the akathist, the icon abundantly exuded holy myrrh, filling the church with a soothing fragrance.

After the akathist, the rector greeted the myrrh-streaming icon’s guardian, Reader Nectarios Yangston, and presented him with a copy of the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God as a token of the parish’s gratitude. As the faithful venerated the icon, Bishop George anointed them with holy myrrh, and the choir sang various hymns to the Mother of God. Many didn’t wish to part ways with the wonder-working icon, and prayed next to the icon late into the evening. Click here for photographs.

Георгіевскомъ храмѣ въ сослуженіи приходского духовенства. Въ четвергъ утромъ, владыка возглавилъ Литургію въ нижнемъ Покровскомъ храмѣ Св. Владимірскаго храма-памятника въ Джексонѣ. Въ храмѣ также молились о. Iона и діак. Павелъ Дроздовскій (клирикъ Св. Владимірскаго храма-памятника).

На слѣдующее утро Божественную литургію возглавилъ о. Сергій въ сослуженіи о. Бориса, о. Iоанна, о. Iоны и о. Леонида. On Wednesday, October 13, on the eve of the feast of the Protection of the Mother of God, His Grace George, Bishop of Mayfield, led the All-Night Vigil in St. George’s Church, co-served by the parish clergy. Thursday morning, His Grace celebrated the Liturgy in the lower church of the Protection of the Mother of God at St. Vladimir Memorial Church in Jackson. On Saturday, October 16, His Grace led the All-Night Vigil in St. George’s Church. Bishop George was co-served by Archpriest Boris Henderson (rector of All Russian Saints Church in Denver, CO), Archpriest John Moses (rector of All Saints of North America Church in Middlebrook, VA), Deacon Leonid Roschko and Deacon Nathan Mousselli (cleric of St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Lakewood). The Vigil was adorned with the singing of the male choir, directed by the rector. Also praying in church were Fr. Jonah and Deacon Paul Drozdowski (cleric of St. Vladimir Memorial Church).

The following morning, Fr. Serge celebrated the Divine Liturgy, co-served by Fr. Boris, Fr. John, Fr. Jonah, and Fr. Leonid. After the Liturgy, the wedding of parish choir director Reader Nektary Lukianov and Susan Lickwar was held in Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Jersey City. Тезоименитство отца настоятеля
7-8 октября въ Св. Георгіевскомъ храмѣ торжественно отмѣтили праздник преп. Сергія Радонежскаго – тезоименитство настоятеля о. Сергія и праздникъ приходского издательства. Наканунѣ праздника прибылъ съ мощами преп. Сергія игум. Сергій (Бауеръ), настоятель Св. Тихоновскаго монастыря. Затѣмъ была совершена торжественная Всенощная со всенароднымъ пѣніемъ акаѳиста преп. Сергію передъ его честными мощами и глибокочтимой мvроточивой иконой. За Всенощной въ храмѣ также молился благочинный третьяго благочинническаго округа и настоятель Св. Александро-Невскаго собора протопр. Валерій Лукьяновъ.

На слѣдующее утро передъ началомъ Литургіи состоялась торжественная встрѣча мvроточивой иконы св. прав. Анны. Божественную литургію возглавил о. Сергій въ сослуженіи архим. По окончаніи Литургии, въ резиденціи настоятеля была предложена обильная трапеза, за которой было произнесено много теплыхъ словъ и привѣтствій. Отъ имени Первоіерарха, Высокопреосвященнѣйшаго митр. Иларіона, Преосвященнѣйшихъ епп. Георгія и Іеронима, и членовъ Епархіальнаго совѣта были провозглашены поздравительныя письма.

Namesday of the Rector
On October 7-8, in St. George’s Church at the diocesan center in Howell, NJ, the feast of St. Sergius of Radonezh – the namesday of the rector, Fr. Serge, and feast of the St. Sergius Publishing House – was celebrated. On the eve of the feast, Abbot Sergius (Bowyer), rector of St. Tikhon of Zadonsk Monastery, arrived with relics of St. Sergius. A triumphal All-Night Vigil was then served, with the general singing of an akathist to St. Sergius being performed before the saint’s precious relics and a deeply revered myrrh-streaming icon of the saint. During the Vigil, Protopresbyter Valery Lukianov, New Jersey Dean and rector of St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Lakewood, NJ, also prayed in the church.

The following morning, before the beginning of the Liturgy, a triumphal greeting of the myrrh-streaming icon of St. Anna was held. Fr. Serge celebrated the Divine Liturgy, co-served by Archimandrite Athanasy (Mastalski; rector of Our Lady, Joy of All Who Sorrow, Church), Archpriest Mark Shinn (rector of St. Andrew’s Cathedral), Archpriest Paul Shafran (pastor emeritus of St. Vladimir Church in Trenton), Abbot Sergius, Archpriest Zoran Radovic (rector of St. George’s Church in Elizabeth), Priest Serge Ledkovsky (deputy rector of St. Vladimir Memorial Church), Frs. Jonah and Leonid, Deacon Nathan Mousselli (cleric of St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral), and Deacon Paul Drozdowski (cleric of St. Vladimir Memorial Church). Igumen Sergius delivered a wonderful sermon that can be heard here.

Upon completion of the Liturgy, a bountiful luncheon was offered, at which many warm words and greetings were pronounced. On behalf of the First Hierarch, His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion, Their Graces, Bishops George and Jerome, and members of the Diocesan Council, congratulatory letters were read aloud.
