Въ воскресенье 11го іюля, Божественную литургію въ Св. Николаевскомъ храмѣ отслужилъ о. Сергій, въ сослуженіи о. Леонида. По окончаніи Литургіи о. Сергій привѣтствовалъ Анну Павловну Варавко, которой недавно исполнилось семь лѣтъ и которая принесла свою первую исповѣдь. О. Сергій преподнесъ ей икону святого ангела хранителя.

Вечеромъ, наканунѣ праздника свв. первоверховныхъ апп. Петра и Павла, прихожане собрались въ Св. Георгіевскомъ храмѣ для Всенощнаго бдѣнія. Множество вѣрующихъ исповѣдовалось, чтобы въ самый день праздника причаститься Святыхъ Христовыхъ Таинствъ.

На слѣдующее утро, о. Сергій возглавилъ Божественную литургію, въ сослуженіи іерея Леонида Гофермана (настоятель Покровскаго храма въ Нью-Брансвикѣ) и о. діак. Леонида. Почти всѣ присутствующіе подошли ко Святой Чашѣ, что умножило праздничную радость. По окончаніи Литургіи о. Сергій привѣтствовалъ именинниковъ, чт. Петра Лукьянова, Павла Викторовича Варавко и Петра Илларіоновича Аѳанасенко. Настоятель поблагодарилъ именинниковъ за ихъ существенный вкладъ, внесенный въ жизнь прихода.

On Sunday, July 11, the Divine Liturgy in St. Nicholas Church was celebrated by Fr. Serge, co-served by Fr. Leonid. Upon completion of the Liturgy, Fr. Serge greeted Anna Varavko, who recently turned seven years old and made her first confession. Fr. Serge presented her with an icon of the Guardian Angel.

That evening, on the eve of the feast of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, parishioners gathered in St. George’s Church for the All-Night Vigil. Many of the faithful went to confession, that on the very day of the feast they might partake of Christ’s Holy Mysteries.

The following morning, Fr. Serge celebrated the Divine Liturgy, co-served by Priest Leonid Goferman (rector of Holy Virgin Protection Church in New Brunswick, NJ), and Deacon Leonid. Almost everyone in attendance approached the Holy Chalice, which magnified the festal joy. Upon completion of the Liturgy, Fr. Serge greeted all those celebrating their namesday, especially Reader Peter Lukianov, Pavel Varavko, and Peter Afanasenko. The rector thanked the celebrants for their substantive contributions to the life of the parish.

Въ четвергъ 24 іюня, послѣ пятимѣсячнаго пребыванія въ приходахъ и монастыряхъ Россіи, Украины, Западной Европы и Великобританіи, Одигитрія Русскаго Разсѣянія, Курская Коренная икона Божіей Матери, покинула берега Стараго Міра и вернулась въ Соединенные Штаты. По благословенію Первоіерарха РПЦЗ, чудотворную икону сопровождалъ нашъ настоятель о. Сергій Лукьяновъ. Икону встрѣтили въ Ньюаркѣ о. Iона, чт. Петръ, чт. Григорiй, Виталій Конофольскій, и Викторъ Карча. Икону отвезли въ резеденцію настоятеля где сразу былъ отслуженъ благодарственый молебень.   

На слѣдующее утро, о. Іона отслужилъ Божественную литургію въ Св. Георгіевскомъ храмѣ, въ день памяти преп. Онуфрія Великаго – тезоименитсво Высокопреосвящ. митрополита Черновицкаго и Буковинскаго Онуфрія. Въ конце службы, о. Іона провозгласилъ многолѣтіе митр. Онуфрію и іерею Онуфрію Кифъ (настоятель Св. Николаевскаго храма в Флечеръ, шт. Сѣв. Каролина),

Въ 19:00 ч. богомольцы вернулись въ Св. Георгіевскій храмъ где собралось множетсво вѣрующихъ со всего благочинія, чтобы торжественно встрѣтить чудотворную Курскую икону Божіей Матери съ крестнымъ ходомъ подъ колокольнымъ звономъ. Послѣ встрѣчи состоялось соборное пѣніе молебна съ акаѳистомъ Пресвятой Богородицѣ, возглавляемый о. Сергіемъ, въ сослуженіи прот. Павла Шафрана, іерея Леонида Гофермана, іерея Сергія Ледковскаго, о. Іоны и о. Леонида. На молебнѣ также молились благочинный третьяго благочинническаго округа протопр. Валерій Лукьяновъ и діак. Владиміръ Олейникъ.

On Thursday, June 24, after a five-month visit to the parishes and monasteries of Russia, Ukraine, Western Europe, and Great Britain, the Protectress of the Russian Diaspora, the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God, departed from the shores of the Old World and returned to the United States. With the blessing of the First Hierarch of ROCOR, the wonder-working icon was accompanied by Fr. Serge Lukianov. Fr. Jonah, Rdr. Peter, Rdr. Gregory, Vitaliy Konofolsky, and Victor Karcha traveled to Newark Airport to greet the icon and escort Her to Howell. The icon was brought to the rector’s residence where a Thanksgiving Moleben was served before the holy icon.

On the following morning, Fr. Jonah served the Divine Liturgy in St. George’s Church on the feast of St. Onouphry the Great, which is the namesday of His Eminence Metropolitan Onouphry of Chernovtsy and Bukovina. After the Liturgy, Fr. Jonah intoned the Polychronion in honor of Metropolitan Onouphry and Priest Onouphry Keith (rector of St. Nicholas Church in Asheville, NC).

Later that day, the faithful returned to St. George’s Church at 7PM where a multitude of Orthodox from throughout New Jersey gathered to triumphantly greet the wonder-working icon with a crucession and the peal of bells. After greeting the icon, the people sang a moleben with akathist to the Most Holy Theotokos, led by Fr. Serge, co-served by Archpriest Paul Shafran, Priest Leonid Goferman, Priest Serge Ledkovsky, Fr. Jonah, and Fr. Leonid. Present and praying during the moleben were New Jersey Dean Protopresbyter Valery Lukianov and Deacon Vladimir Oliynyk.

Во вторникъ 15го іюня, въ резеденцiи настоятеля состоялось засѣданіе церковно-приходского совѣта. На засѣданіи присутствовали о. настоятель, діак. Леонидъ, чт. Григорій Левитскій (секретарь), Н.Е. Бурбело (староста), Матушка Маргарита Рожкова (казначей), Матушка Любовь Лукьянова (старшая сестра), В.В. Кобашъ, Е.Ѳ. Ясыкъ, П.В. Варавко и О.І. Селикъ. Члены совѣта обсудили прогрессъ ремонта Св. Георгіевскаго и Св. Николаевскаго храмовъ и празднованіе 100-лѣтія Св. Николаевскаго храма и 60-лѣтія основанія прихода. Члены совѣта также обсудили предстоящій визитъ чудотворной Курской Коренной иконы Божіей Матери въ Св. Георгіевскій храмъ и разные вопросы, касающихся приходской жизни.

Въ среду 16 iюня, въ Св. Георгiевскомъ храмѣ былъ отслуженъ молебенъ съ акаѳистомъ св. великомученику Георгiю Побѣдоносцу передъ частицой его святыхъ мощей и частицой мощей св. мученицы Алексадры. Нажмите здѣсь для просмотра фотографiй.

On Tuesday, June 15, a meeting of the parish council was held in the rector’s home. Present at the meeting were the rector, Deacon Leonid, Reader Gregory Levitsky (Secretary), N.E. Burbelo (Warden), Matushka Margarita Roschko (Treasurer), Matushka Lubov Lukianov (Head Sister), William J. Kobasz, Elizabeth Yasuk, Pavel Varavko, and Olga Selick. Council members discussed the progress of renovation projects at St. George’s and St. Nicholas Churches, as well as the celebration of the centennial of St. Nicholas Church and the 60^th anniversary of the parish’s founding. Council members also discussed the coming visit to St. George’s Church of the wonder-working Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God, as well as other questions relating to parish life.

On Wednesday, June 16, a moleben with akathist to the Holy Great Martyr and Trophy-Bearer George was served in St. George's Church before a piece of the saint's relics and the relics of the holy martyr St. Alexandra. Click here for photos.

8го іюня нашъ приходъ отмѣчаетъ вторую годовщину діаконской хиротоніи о. Леонида Рожкова. Два года назадъ, въ Недѣлю Святыхъ Отецъ, Первоіерархъ Русской Православной Церкви Заграницей, Высокопреосвященнѣйшій Иларіонъ, митрополитъ Восточно-Американскій и Нью-Іоркскій, посѣтитлъ Краснобрегово съ архипастырскимъ визитомъ и возглавилъ Божественную литургію въ Св. Николаевскомъ храмѣ. Его Высокопреосвященству сослужили прот. Георгій Ларинъ, прот. Александръ Голубовъ, прот. Филиппъ Петровскій, прот. Сергій Лукьяновъ, архидіак. Евгеній Бурбело, и протод. On June 8th, our parish marked the second anniversary of the ordination to the diaconate of Fr. Leonid Roschko. Two years ago, on the Sunday of the Holy Fathers, the First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, His Eminence Hilarion, Metropolitan of Eastern America and New York, performed an archpastoral visit to Red Bank and celebrated the Divine Liturgy in St. Nicholas Church. His Eminence was co-served by Archpriest George Larin, Archpriest Alexander Golubov, Archpriest Philip Petrovsky, Archpriest Serge Lukianov, Archdeacon Eugene Burbelo, and Protodeacon Constantine Semyanko. During the Liturgy, Metropolitan Hilarion ordained Subdeacon Leonid to the diaconate.

A Chronicle of Parish Life:
On Sunday, May 2, the Annual General Meeting was held in the parish hall, chaired by the rector. Elected to the Church Council were Matushka Margarita Roschko (treasurer), Reader Gregory Levitsky (secretary), Elizabeth T. Yasuk, Vasily V. Kobasz, Pavel V. Varavko, and Olga I. Selick. Also on the Council by virtue of their holding other posts in the parish are the rector, Fr. Jonah, Fr. Leonid, Nicholas E. Burbelo (warden of St. Nicholas Church), John G. Rimakis (warden of St. George’s Church), and Matushka Lubov Lukianov (head sister of St. Nicholas Church). Elected to the Auditing Committee were David Selick (president), Susan J. Lickwar, Ana Sigalas and Alexandra K. Romanofsky as auxiliary member.

On Sunday, May 9, Fr. Jonah celebrated the Liturgy in St. Nicholas Church co-served by Fr. Leonid. On that day, Americans celebrated “Mother’s Day,” when they specially honor all mothers. That Sunday, in accordance with parish tradition, the men of the parish prepared breakfast for the women. On Monday, May 10, Reader Peter Lukianov and Reader Gregory Levitsky led a tour of some of the highlights of Philadelphia and New Jersey for our honored guests from Kuban. Among the stops were St. Andrew’s Cathedral (MP), the Liberty Bell, St. Nicholas Church in Millville, and Holy Virgin Protection Church in Novaya Kuban. On behalf of the rector, the guests were given letters of gratitude and photo albums of parish life and the renovations at St. George’s, to be passed along to His Eminence Isidor, Metropolitan of Ekaterinodar and the Kuban, as well as to the Ataman of the Kuban Cossack Voisko, N.A. Въ среду 5го и четвергъ 6го мая 2010 г., въ праздникъ св. Великомученика и Побѣдоносца Георгія, въ Св. Георгіевскомъ храмѣ прошли праздничныя богослуженія въ день престольнаго праздника и тезоименитства Преосвященнѣйшаго епископа Мэйфильдскаго Георгія.

Въ среду вечеромъ, Всенощное бдѣніе возглавилъ еп. Георгій, въ сослуженіи настоятеля, игум. Сергія (настоятель Св. Тихоновскаго монастыря въ Южномъ Ханаанѣ, шт. Пенсильванія), іером. Александра (Фризеллъ – насельникъ Крестовоздвиженскаго монастыря), іерея Іоны Кампбелла (клирикъ прихода), протод. Павла Волкова (клирикъ Св. Серафимовскаго храма въ Си-Клифѣ, шт. Нью-Іоркъ), діак. Леонида Рожкова и діак. Наѳана Мусселли (клирикъ Св. Александро-Невскаго собора въ Лейквудѣ, шт. Нью-Джерси). Передъ началомъ богослуженія, Владыка совершилъ малое освященіе храма послѣ успѣшнаго проведенія ремонта. Была установлена новая охладительная система, положенъ новый паркетный полъ, храмъ былъ покрашенъ, клиросъ построенъ и купола отремонтированы.

На слѣдующее утро, Божественную литургію возглавилъ Высокопреосвященнѣйшій митрополитъ Восточно-Американскій и Нью-Іоркскій, Иларіонъ, Первоіерархъ Русской Зарубежной Церкви, въ сослуженіи викарныхъ архіереевъ Преосвященнѣйшихъ епископовъ Мэйфильдскаго Георгія и Манхеттенскаго Іеронима и множества епархіальнаго и мѣстнаго духовенства. Передъ началомъ Литургіи, Владыка постригъ прихожанина Олега Павловича Варавко въ чтецы.

На Георгіевскія торжества прибыли представители Кубанскаго казачьяго войска, Кубанскаго края, Россійскаго Консульства въ Нью-Іоркѣ и Организаціи Россійскихъ Юныхъ Развѣдчиковъ (ОРЮР): Олегъ Валерьевичъ Ратушнякъ, начальникъ отдѣла патріотическаго воспитанія и традиціонной культуры казачества департамента по дѣламъ казачества администраціи Краснодарскаго края; Александръ Георгіевичъ Шеинъ, начальникъ правового управленія администраціи Краснодарскаго края; Николай Семеновичъ Перваковъ, первый замѣститель атамана Кубанскаго казачьяго войска; Викторъ Алексѣевичъ Калиненко, атаманъ Лабинскаго отдѣла Кубанскаго казачьяго войска; Вице-Консулъ Россійской Федераціи въ США Андрей Васильевичъ Рогозинъ и Старшій Скаутмастеръ ОРЮР Алексѣй Ѳеодоровичъ Захарьинъ. Основной цѣлью визита Кубанской делегаціи была передача копій регалій кубанскаго казачества въ соотвѣтствіи съ договоромъ, заключеннымъ между Кубанскимъ казачьимъ войскомъ за рубежомъ и Кубанскимъ казачьемъ войскомъ. За послѣднія нѣсколько лѣтъ, Кубанское казачье войско за рубежомъ (центръ и музей котораго находятся около Св. Георгіевскаго храма) постепенно возращаетъ казачьи цѣнности и регаліи въ новый войсковой музей на Кубани, а съ Кубани присылаются точныя копіи обратно въ казачій музей въ Ховеллѣ.

По окончаніи Литургіи, митрополитъ Иларіонъ совершилъ освященіе новыхъ копій войсковыхъ регалій – двухъ знаменъ Александра Невскаго, грамотъ императора Павла I и императрицы Екатерины II. Послѣ освященія регалій, Кубанскіе представители передали Первоіерарху рядъ подарковъ отъ имени Кубанскаго казачьяго рода. Въ свою очередь, Его Высокопреосвященство благодарилъ высокопоставленныхъ лицъ и преподнесъ имъ благодарственныя грамоты за ихъ участіе въ Георгіевскихъ торжествахъ. Митрополитъ также наградилъ прихожанина Кирилла Валентиновича Новицкаго благодарственной грамотой и прихожаниновъ Димитрія Минтенко и Виктора Карча иконами св. Георгія за ихъ усердные труды по возстановленіи Св. Георгіевскаго храма. Отъ имени Восточно-Американской епархіи, Преосвященнѣйшему епископу Георгію преподнесли новое золотое архіерейское облаченіе въ связи съ тезоименитствомъ владыки.

Затѣмъ діакона провозгласили многолѣтіе Святѣйшему Патріарху, приходскому клиру и всѣмъ именинникамъ. Сразу послѣ службы, Митрополитъ отбылъ на аэропортъ и благополучно вылетѣлъ на Украину, чтобы принять участіе въ торжествахъ по случаю празднованія 850-лѣтія Свято-Успенскаго каѳедральнаго собора въ Владиміръ-Волынскомъ.

Въ казачьемъ залѣ состоялась праздничная трапеза, за которой гости изъ Кубани чествовали епархіальныхъ архіереевъ, настоятеля и другихъ лицъ, которыя участвовали въ процессѣ возращенія регалій. On Wednesday the 5th and Thursday the 6th of May, 2010, on the feast day of the Holy Great Martyr and Trophy-Bearer George, festal divine services were served in St. George’s Church at the Diocesan Center in Howell, NJ, in honor of the church’s patronal feast day and namesday of His Grace George, Bishop of Mayfield.

On Wednesday evening, the All-Night Vigil was led by Bishop George, co-served by the rector, Igumen Sergius (abbot of St. Tikhon of Zadonsk Monastery in South Canaan, PA), Hieromonk Alexander (Frizzell – monk of Holy Cross Monastery), Priest Jonah Campbell (parish cleric), Protodeacon Paul Wolkow (cleric of St. Seraphim’s Church in Sea Cliff, NY), Deacon Leonid Roschko (parish cleric), and Deacon Nathan Mousselli (cleric of St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Lakewood, NJ). Before the beginning of the service, His Grace performed the lesser blessing of the church, following the successful completion of renovations. New air conditioning was installed, a new hardwood floor was laid down, a kliros was constructed, and the domes repaired.

The following morning, the Divine Liturgy was led by His Eminence Hilarion, Metropolitan of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, co-served by the vicar bishops, Their Graces George of Mayfield and Jerome of Manhattan, and a multitude of diocesan and local clergy. Before the beginning of the Liturgy, His Eminence tonsured parishioner Oleg P. Varavko a reader.

In attendance at the St. George’s Day festivities were representatives of the Kuban Cossack Voisko, the Kuban regional government, the Russian Consulate in New York City, and St. George Pathfinders of America (SGPA): Oleg V. Ratushnyak, head of the Division of National Education and Traditional Cossack Culture of the Department of Cossack Affairs of the Kuban regional government; Alexander G. Shein, head of the legal division of the Kuban regional government; Nicholas S. Pervakov, first vice ataman of the Kuban Cossack Voisko; Victor A. Kalinenko, ataman of the Labinsk Division of the Kuban Cossack Voisko; the Vice Consul of the Russian Federation in New York, Andrey V. Rogozin, and Head Scoutmaster of SGPA, Alexey T. Zacharin. The main goal of the Kuban delegation was the transfer of copies of Kuban Cossack regalia in accordance with an agreement between the Kuban Cossack Voisko Abroad and the Kuban Cossack Voisko in Russia. Over the last few years, the Kuban Cossack Voisko Abroad (whose center and museum are located next to St. George’s Church), has been incrementally returning these priceless Cossack artifacts and regalia to a new military museum in the Kuban, while the Cossacks in the Kuban return exact copies of the items to the museum in Howell.

Upon completion of the Liturgy, Metropolitan Hilarion blessed the new copies of the military regalia – two banners of Alexander Nevsky, and two imperial certificates, from Emperor Paul I and Empress Catherine II. After the blessing of the regalia, the Kuban representatives presented His Eminence with gifts on behalf of the Kuban Cossacks. In turn, His Eminence thanked the dignitaries and presented them with diocesan gramotas, thanking them for their participation in the St. George’s Day festivities. The Metropolitan also presented parishioner Kyrill V. Novitsky with a diocesan gramota and parishioners Dimitri Mintenko and Victor Karcha with icons of St. George, thanking them for their diligent labors in renovating St. George’s Church. On behalf of the Eastern American Diocese, His Grace, Bishop George, was presented with a new set of golden hierarchal vestments on the occasion of His Grace’s namesday.

The deacons then intoned the Polychronion for His Holiness the Patriarch, the parish clergy, and for all those celebrating their namesday. Immediately after the service, the Metropolitan departed for the airport, from whence he then flew to the Ukraine to take part in the festivities commemorating the 850th anniversary of the Holy Assumption Cathedral in Vladimir-Volynsky.

In the Cossack hall, a festive luncheon was held, during which the guests from the Kuban honored the diocesan bishops, the rector, and other dignitaries who had taken part in the process of the regalia’s return. Въ Св. Георгiевскомъ храмѣ проходитъ капитальный ремонтъ передъ престольнымъ праздникомъ. Будетъ установлена новая охладительная система, положенъ новый паркетный полъ, покрашенъ храмъ, построенъ клиросъ и отремонтированы купола и кресты. Major renovations are being done in St. George’s Church in preparation for our patronal feast day. A new air conditioning system will be installed, new hardwood floors laid down, the church will be painted, a kliros will be constructed and the cupolas and crosses will be repaired. Visitors can see photos of the renovations to St. George’s Church here.

Въ воскресенье 18 апрѣля 2010 г., отмѣчается память свв. Женъ Мѵроносицъ, покровительницъ нашего сестричества, которое празднуетъ въ сей день свои именины. Божественную литургію въ св. Николаевскомъ храмѣ возглавилъ о. настоятель въ сослуженіи приходского духовенства. По окончаніи Литургіи, о. діаконъ провозгласилъ многолѣтіе всѣмъ сестрамъ, послѣ чего былъ устроенъ праздничный обѣдъ въ трапезной, за которой прихожане чествовали и благодарили нашихъ сестеръ за ихъ любовь и работу въ приходѣ. On Sunday, April 18, 2010, we celebrate the memory of the Holy Myrrh-Bearing, the heavenly intercessors of our sisterhood, which celebrated its patronal feast day Sunday. The Divine Liturgy in St. Nicholas Church was celebrated by the rector, co-served by parish clergy. Upon completion of the Liturgy, the deacon intoned the Polychronion for all the sisters, after which a festal luncheon was held in the refectory, during which parishioners honored and thanked our sisters for their love and labors in the parish. Въ воскресенье 11 апрѣля, на Владимірскомъ кладбищѣ въ Джексонѣ была отслужена Божественная литургія в Св. Іоанно-Предтеченской часовнѣ. Литургію возглавилъ о. Сергій, въ сослуженіи о. Іоны и о. Леонида. Послѣ Литургіи была отслужена традиціонная общая литія у казачьяго памятника, за которой поминали создателя часовни архіеп. Никона (Рклицкаго), всѣхъ настоятелей, Августѣйшихъ атамановъ, казаковъ и казачекъ, всѣхъ на полѣ брани жизнь свою положившихъ за вѣру, царя и отечество и всѣхъ въ тюрмахъ и лагеряхъ умученныхъ и убіенныхъ. On Sunday, April 11, the Divine Liturgy was served in St. Vladimir’s Cemetery in Jackson, NJ, in St. John the Baptist Chapel. The Liturgy was celebrated by Fr. Serge, co-served by Fr. Jonah and Fr. Leonid. After the Liturgy, a traditional general Litany for the Departed was served at the Cossack memorial, in which the clergy commemorated the founder of the chapel, Archbishop Nikon (Rklitsky), all of the rectors, most August atamans, every Cossack, all those who perished on the field of battle for the faith, the Tsar, and the homeland, and all those who suffered and died in prisons and camps. Fr. Serge and Fr. Jonah, along with other priests of the New Jersey Deanery, then began to serge litanies at the graves of the departed. Click here for photos.

Во вторникъ 6го и среду 7го апрѣля, прихожане собрались въ Св. Георгiевскомъ храмѣ, чтобы помолиться въ двунадесятый праздникъ Благовѣщенiя Пресвятой Богородицы. Въ сей радостный день, Мать-Церковъ празднуетъ начало спасенiя рода человѣческаго, когда Архангелъ Гаврiилъ благовѣстилъ Дѣвѣ Марiи, что Она родитъ Сына, который спасетъ все человѣчество. Въ этомъ году чувствовалась особая радость, потому что Благовѣщенiе совпало на Свѣтлой Недѣлѣ и соеденились пасхальная и благовѣщенская служба. Въ своей проповѣди сегодня въ Благовѣщенскомъ соборѣ Московскаго Кремля, Святѣйшій Патріархъ Кириллъ отмѣтилъ, что „Празднуя Благовѣщеніе Пресвятой Богородицы, мы празднуемъ начало нашего спасенія и благодаримъ Господа за ту великую милость, которую Онъ даровалъ намъ, за Его страданіе, Его смерть, Его Воскресеніе, за ниспосланіе Духа Святого, за все то, что и являетъ собой тайну спасенія рода человѣческаго. И вѣримъ, что до скончанія вѣка никогда не будетъ изъята изъ человѣческаго сообщества эта возможность оградить себя силой благодати Божіей отъ силы вражіей, устрояя спасеніе во Христѣ Иисусѣ Господѣ нашемъ“.

Богослуженія возглавилъ о. настоятель въ сослуженіи приходского духовенства. Въ концѣ службы о. Іона привѣтствовалъ о. Сергія отъ имени всего прихода по случаю его дня рожденія, а затѣмъ о. April 7, 2010 г. – The Annunciation of the Most Holy Theotokos
On Tuesday the 6th and Wednesday the 7th of April, parishioners gathered at St. George’s Church to pray on the Great Feast of the Annunciation of the Most Holy Theotokos. On this joyous day, the Mother Church celebrates the beginning of mankind’s salvation, when the Archangel Gabriel revealed to the Virgin Mary that She would bear a Son who would save all mankind. This year a special joy could be felt, as the Annunciation fell on Bright Week, and the Paschal and festal services were united. In his sermon today in the Annunciation Cathedral of the Moscow Kremlin, His Holiness, Patriarch Kyrill, noted that, “In celebrating the Annunciation of the Most Holy Theotokos, we celebrate the beginning of our salvation and thank the Lord for that great mercy that He gave us, for His suffering, His death, His Resurrection, for the sending of the Holy Spirit, for everything that reveals to us the mystery of man’s salvation. And we believe that until the end of the ages the possibility to guard ourselves from the forces of the enemy with the power of God’s grace, which establishes salvation in Our Lord Jesus Christ, will never be taken away from humanity.”

The divine liturgies were led by the rector, co-served by the parish clergy. Upon completion of the Liturgy, Fr. Jonah greeted Fr. Serge on behalf of the whole parish on the occasion of his birthday, after which Fr. Serge then greeted Lidia Zemlanicky on the occasion of her recent namesday. ХРИСТОСЪ ВОСКРЕСЕ!!!
Въ пасхальное утро настоятель возглавилъ торжественную пасхальную заутреню и Литургію въ Св. Николаевскомъ храмѣ, въ сослуженіи приходского духовенства. Храмъ былъ наполненъ до отказа богомольцами, которые пришли отмѣтить праздниковъ праздникъ – Святое Христово Воскресеніе. Праздничное пѣніе и колокольный звонъ прозвучали по улицамъ Краснобрегово, возвѣщая всему городу, что воистину Христосъ воскресъ изъ мертвыхъ и попралъ смертную силу. Во время запричастныхъ провозгласили пасхальное посланіе Святѣйшаго Патріарха Кирилла на русскомъ и англійскомъ языкахъ. Послѣ литургіи, въ нижнемъ залѣ состоялось освященіе куличей и брашенъ для вѣрующихъ и затѣмъ прошли розговены. Къ празднику члены церковно-приходского совѣта подарили о. Сергію новый праздничный крестъ съ украшеніями отъ имени прихода.

Въ 13:00 ч. была отслужена Пасхальная Великая Вечерня въ Св. Георгiевскомъ храмѣ. Послѣ торжественной вечерни былъ устроенъ прiемъ для всего прихода въ резеденцiи отца настоятеля. Въ теченiе всего дня прихожане прiезжали пообщаться другъ съ другомъ въ радостный день Воскресенiя Христова. Въ Свѣтлый Понедѣльникъ была отслужена пасхальная утреня и торжественная Литургiя въ Св. Георгiевскомъ храмѣ.

CHRIST IS RISEN!!!
On Easter morn, the rector led the triumphal Paschal Matins and Divine Liturgy in St. Nicholas Church, co-served by the parish clergy. The church was filled to capacity with the faithful, who came to mark the feast of feasts – the Glorious Resurrection of Christ. The festal singing and peal of the bells resounded throughout Red Bank, proclaiming to the whole city that Christ is truly risen from the dead and has trampled death’s power. During the communion of the clergy, the Paschal epistle of His Holiness, Patriarch Kyrill, was read aloud in Russian and English. After the Liturgy, the blessing of kulich and Pasch baskets for the faithful was performed in the parish hall, after which everyone partook of the Paschal rozgoviny. For the holiday, the Parish Council gave Fr. Serge a new festal jeweled cross on behalf of the parish.

At 1:00 PM, the Paschal Great Vespers service was served in St. George’s Church. After the triumphal service, an open house was held at the home of the rector. Over the course of the whole day, parishioners came to celebrate the day of Christ’s Resurrection with one another. On Bright Monday, the Paschal matins and Divine Liturgy were served in St. George’s Church.

Въ Велиую Субботу, въ Свято-Георгіевскомъ храмѣ возглавилъ Божественную литургiю настоятель, въ сослуженіи приходского духовенства. Молодежь прихода читала паримiи, т.е. чтенiя изъ Ветхаго Завѣта, перечисляющiя исторiю человѣческаго спасенiя, хвалящія Всемогущаго и предвозвѣщающiя о пришествiи и жизни Господа и Спасителя нашего Іисуса Христа. Во время чтенiя Апостола, совершалось переоблаченiе храма, изъ Великопостнаго чернаго и траурнаго въ свѣтлыя, бѣлыя пасхальныя облаченiя. Было особенно радостно видѣть, что каждый человѣкъ въ храмѣ причастился Святыхъ Таинъ, тѣмъ самымъ соединяясь другъ со другомъ во Христѣ. April 3, 2010 - Great Saturday
On Great Saturday, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated by the rector in St. George’s Church, co-served by the parish clergy. The parish youth read readings from the Old Testament, outlining the history of mankind’s salvation, glorifying the Almighty, and foretelling the coming and life of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. During the reading of the Epistle, the vestments were changed from the mournful black of Great Lent to the joyous white vestments of Pascha. It was hard not to be overjoyed, seeing every person in church come to partake of the Holy Mysteries, in so doing uniting one with another in Christ. Въ Великій Пятокъ, самый день Страстей и Смерти Господа и Бога и Спаса нашего Іисуса Христа, день когда каждая христіанская душа призывается на покаяніе и состраданіе, прихожане собралисъ на чтеніе царскихъ часовъ передъ святымъ Распятіемъ въ Св. Николаевскомъ храмѣ. Затѣмъ начилась вечерня, и всѣ съ дерзновеніемъ ждали выноса тѣла Спасителя въ образѣ святой плащаницы. Діаконъ прочиталъ послѣднее чтеніе о честныхъ страданіяхъ Спасителя, послѣ чего священники вынесли Святую плащаницу Іисуса, пока вѣрующіе стояли на колѣняхъ и хоръ пѣлъ тропарь „Благообразный Іосифъ“. Послѣ своей проповѣди, о. Сергій исповѣдовалъ каждаго прихожанина на дивной плащаницѣ, которая недавно возвратилась въ нашъ приходъ изъ Святого Града Іерусалима, гдѣ два года надъ ней трудились монахини Геѳсиманской обители.

Вечеромъ богомольцы собрались въ Св. Георгіевскомъ храмѣ на утреню Великой Субботы съ чиномъ погребенія Спасителя. Погребеніе завершилось крестнымъ ходомъ и чтеніемъ перваго Евангелія о Воскресеніи, когда жены-мvроносицы пришли ко гробу и тамъ встрѣтилъ ихъ ангелъ, благовѣствуя имъ пасхальную радость. Въ первый разъ за весь годъ провозгласились слова, за которыми стоятъ вся надежда и все упованіе христіанъ: „Да воскреснетъ Богъ, и расточатся врази Его“. Этими тримя словами, „Да воскреснетъ Богъ“, мы открываемъ наши сердца всему міру, свидѣтелствую что мы себя предаемъ Христу, и что въ Его Востаніи заключается весь смыслъ нашей жизни. April 2, 2010 - Great Friday
On Great Friday, the very day of our Lord and God and Savior Jesus Christ’s Passion and Death, a day when every Christian soul is called to repentance and co-suffering, parishioners gathered for the reading of the Royal Hours before the Holy Crucifix in St. Nicholas Church. The vespers service then began, and everyone waited with daring for the bringing out of the body of the Savior in His holy shroud. The deacon read the final passion gospel and then the priests brought out the holy shroud, while the faithful stood on their knees and the choir sang the troparion “The noble Joseph.” After his sermon, Fr. Serge confessed each parishioner on a marvelous shroud, which recently returned to our parish from the Holy City of Jerusalem, where the nuns of our convent in Gethsemane labored over it for two years.

That evening, the faithful gathered in St. George’s Church for the Great Saturday matins and burial service. The burial service concluded with a procession around the church and the reading of the first Gospel of the Resurrection, when the myrrh-bearing women came to the tomb and met the angel there, who proclaimed Paschal joy to them. For the first time this year, words were proclaimed that capture the essence of every Christian’s hope: “Let God arise, and let His enemies be scattered!” With these three words, “Let God arise,” we open our hearts to the whole world, letting everyone know that we give our selves over to Christ, and that His Resurrection epitomizes the entire meaning of our lives. 1 апрѣля 2010 г.  - Великiй Четвертокъ
Въ Великій Четвертокъ, когда Православный міръ вспоминаетъ Тайную вечерю, въ Св. Георгіевскомъ храмѣ настоятель возглавилъ вечерню съ Литургіей въ сослуженiи приходского духовенства. Въ этотъ великій день служится особая Литургія, за которой вмѣсто „Иже Херувимы“ поется „Вечери твоея тайныя днесь, Сыне Божій, причастника мя пріими“. Трудно передать словами тѣ чувства благодати, которыя вѣрующіе переживали въ то время, когда всѣ присутствующіе приступали къ Святой Чашѣ.

Вечеромъ прихожане еще разъ собрались въ Св. Геогіевскомъ храмѣ на утреню Великаго Пятка со чтеніемъ 12-ти Евангелiй. Въ своей проповѣди въ концѣ службы, о. Сергій призвалъ вѣрующихъ къ истинному покаянію и состраданію чтобы достойно встрѣтить Святую Пасху.  Послѣ проповѣди богомольцы приступили къ святому распятію въ полной тишинѣ, а затѣмъ вернулись домой, славяще Господа и Его Страданія нашего ради спасенія. April 1, 2010 - Great Thursday
On Great Thursday, when the Orthodox world remembers the Mystical Supper, the Vespers service and Divine Liturgy were served in St. George’s Church by the rector and parish clergy. On this great day, a special liturgy is served, during which instead of the Cherubic hymn, we sing “Of Thy mystical supper O Son of God receive me today as a communicant.” It is difficult to put into words the feeling of grace that the faithful experienced while coming up to the Holy Chalice to receive the Body and Blood of Christ.

At night, parishioners gathered once more in St. George’s Church for the matins service of Great Friday with the Reading of the Twelve Passion Gospels. The church was filled with the faithful for the beginning of Christ’s passions. In his sermon, Fr. Serge called the faithful to true repentance and co-suffering with Christ, that we might worthily greet Holy Pascha. After the sermon, the faithful venerated the cross of Christ in complete silence and then returned home glorifying God and His passions for the sake of our salvation. За послѣдніе четыре дня въ Св. Николаевскомъ и Св. Георгіевскомъ храмахъ прошло много радостныхъ событій. Въ четвергъ вечеромъ 25 марта, въ Св. Николаевскомъ храмѣ принялъ Святое Православіе таинстомъ крещенія рабъ Божій Іоаннъ Волковъ, выбравшій свое новое имя въ честь свят. Іоанна Шанхайскаго и Санъ-Францисскаго чудотворца. На слѣдующій вечеръ богомольцы собрались въ Св. Георгіевскомъ храмѣ на праздничное богослуженіе, и впервые за цѣлый годъ услышали дивныя слова торжественнаго тропаря: „Общее воскресеніе прежде Твоея страсти увѣряя, изъ мертвыхъ воздвиглъ еси Лазаря“.

На слѣдующее утро, послѣ сорока дней Великаго поста, „душеполезную совершивше Четыредесятницу“, прихожане радостно втрѣтили Лазареву субботу, собравшись въ Св. Николаевскомъ храмѣ на Божественную литургію. Послѣ литургіи, присоединилась ко Святому Православію раба Божія Наталія Брызгалова, а дѣтки собрались въ приходскомъ залѣ для окраски Пасхальныхъ яицъ. Подъ руководствомъ членовъ приходского сестричества, дѣти также приготовляли Пасхальныя корзиночки для раздачи больнымъ.

Вечеромъ прихожане снова собрались въ Св. Геогіевскомъ храмѣ, чтобы отмѣтить Вербное воскресенье, Входъ Господень во Іерусалимъ. По словамъ архіеп. Никона (Рклицкаго), „Въ этотъ день Св. Церковь увѣряетъ людей въ томъ, что они силой Божіей воскреснутъ изъ мертвыхъ, какъ воскресъ четверодневный Лазарь, пробывшій въ гробѣ большее время нежели Христосъ Спаситель, воскресшій въ третій день“. Всенощное бдѣніе возглавилъ настоятель въ сослуженіи приходскихъ клириковъ. Вѣрующіе стояли съ вербочками и также съ уникальными крестиками которые приготовилъ староста Іоаннъ Римакисъ изъ пальмовыхъ вѣтвей, любезно присылаемыхъ изъ Св. Николаевскаго женскаго монастыря  во Флоридѣ.

На слѣдующее утро, въ самый день праздника, снова наполнилась церковь прихожанами, носящими вербочки, „знаменія побѣды“. По окончаніи праздничной Божественной литургіи, настоятель привѣтствовалъ новопросвѣщенныхъ рабовъ Божіихъ Іоанна и Наталію, поздравляя ихъ съ принятіемъ Святого Крещенія и причастіемъ Святыхъ Христовыхъ Таинъ. Затѣмъ о. Леонидъ провозгласилъ новокрещеннымъ многолѣтіе. Вечеромъ была отслужена въ Св. The last four days have seen many joyous events at St. Nicholas and St. George’s Churches. On Thursday, March 25, the servant of God John Wolf accepted Holy Orthodoxy in St. Nicholas Church through the Sacrament of Baptism. John chose his new name in honor of St. John, Wonder-worker of Shanghai and San Francisco. The following evening, worshipers gathered in St. George’s Church for the festal divine service, and for the first time heard the marvelous words of the triumphal troparion: “In confirming the common Resurrection… Thou didst raise up Lazarus from the dead before Thy Passion.”

The following morning, after forty days of Great Lent, “having completed the forty days that bring profit to our souls,” parishioners joyously greeted Lazarus Saturday, gathering in St. Nicholas Church for the Divine Liturgy. After the Liturgy, the handmaiden of God Natalia Bryzgalova was united to Holy Orthodoxy, and the parish children gathered in the hall to paint Easter eggs. Under the supervision of the parish sisterhood, the children also made Pascha baskets to be given out to the sick.

That evening, parishioners gathered once more in St. George’s Church to mark Palm Sunday, the Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem. In the words of Archbishop Nikon (Rklitsky), “On this day the Holy Church assures the people that by God’s power they will be resurrected from the dead, as Lazarus was resurrected after four days, having spent more time among the dead than even Christ the Savior, who rose again on the third day.” The All-Night Vigil was served by the rector, co-served by parish clergy. The faithful stood with pussy willows and unique crosses that were prepared by warden John Rimakis from palm fronds lovingly sent from St. Nicholas Convent in Florida.

The following morning, on the very day of the feast, the church was once more filled with parishioners carrying pussy willows, “the symbols of victory.” Upon completion of the festal Divine Liturgy, the rector greeted the newly illumined servants of God John and Natalia, congratulating them on their acceptance of Holy Baptism and their partaking of Christ’s Holy Mysteries. Fr. Leonid then intoned the polychronion for the newly baptized. That evening, the first service of Passion Week was served in St. George’s Church, and the imploring words of salvation sounded out: “I see Thy bridal chamber…” Click here for photos from Lazarus Saturday and Palm Sunday.

Въ пятницу вечеромъ 19 марта, наканунѣ праздника Похвалы Пресвятой Богородицы, прихожане собрались въ Св. Георгiевскомъ храмѣ, гдѣ въ серединѣ храма была приготовлена на большомъ аналоѣ особая икона Божiей Матери „Акаѳистъ“. На этой дивной иконѣ написаны изображенiя всѣхъ икосовъ акаѳиста Пресвятой Богородицѣ. Утреня съ акаѳистомъ возглавилъ настоятель, въ сослуженіи приходского духовенства. Послѣ утрени была отслужена панихида на сороковой день послѣ смерти семи рабовъ Божіихъ, погибшихъ въ автокатострофѣ на Украинѣ. Среди погибшихъ были три священника изъ Черновицкой и Буковинской епархіи. Утромъ была отслужена Божественная Литургiя и затѣмъ краткiй молебенъ передъ иконой Пресвятой Богородицы ,,Азъ есмь съ вами и никтоже на вы“ – чья память празднуется въ день Похвалы. Въ воскресенье 21 марта, о. Іона и о. Леонидъ отслужили Божественную литургию въ Св. Николаевскомъ храмѣ, а о. Сергій сослужилъ еп. On Friday evening, on the eve of the feast of the Laudation of the Mother of God, parishioners gathered at St. George’s Church, where in the center of the church, on a large analogion, a special icon of the Mother of God “Akathist” was placed for veneration. This marvelous icon has each ikos of the akathist to the Most Holy Theotokos painted around its sides. The matins with akathist was led by the rector, co-served by the parish clergy. After the matins, a panihida was served for the 40th day after the repose of the seven servants of God who died in a car crash in the Ukraine. Among the perished were three priests of the Diocese of Chernovtsy and Bukovina. The following morning, the Divine Liturgy was served, and thereafter a short moleben before the icon of the Our Lady “I am with you and no one shall be against you,” which is commemorated on the feast of the Laudation. On Sunday, March 21, Fr. Jonah and Fr. Leonid served the Divine Liturgy in St. Nicholas Church, while Fr. Serge co-served with Bishop Jerome on St. Vladimir’s Mount for the 50th anniversary of the repose of Archbishop Vitaly (Maximenko). Click here for photos from the Laudation of the Mother of God.

Елеосвященіе – это таинство, въ которомъ при помазаніи тѣла елеемъ призывается на человѣка благодать Божія, исцѣляющая немощи душевныя и тѣлесныя. Таинство возглавилъ настоятель храма, въ сослуженіи прот. Филиппа Петровскаго (настоятель Покровской англоязычной миссіи въ Джексонѣ), прот. Александра Голубова (клирикъ Св. Николаевскаго Патріаршаго собора въ Нью-Іоркѣ), іерея Леонида Гофермана (настоятель Покровскаго храма въ Нью-Брансвикѣ), іерея Серафима Чемодакова (клирикъ Св. Александро-Невскаго собора въ Лейквудѣ), іерея Сергія Ледковскаго (зам. настоятеля Св. Владимірскаго храма-памятника въ Джексонѣ), о. Іоны, о. Леонида и діак. Наѳана Мусселли (клирикъ Св. Александро-Невскаго собора). На соборованіе собралось множество богомольцевъ со всего благочинія, чтобы каяться и очиститься передъ великимъ праздникомъ Воскресенія Христова. On Sunday, March 14, local clergy performed the rite of Holy Unction in St. George’s Church. Holy Unction is a sacrament that, by blessing the believer’s body with oil, calls down God’s grace, healing one’s physical and spiritual infirmities. The performance of the sacrament was led by the rector, co-served by Archpriest Philip Petrovsky (rector of the Holy Virgin Protection English Mission in Jackson, NJ), Archpriest Alexander Golubov (cleric of St. Nicholas Patriarchal Cathedral in New York), Priest Leonid Goferman (rector of Holy Virgin Protection Church in New Brunswick, NJ), Priest Seraphim Chemodakov (cleric of St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Lakewood, NJ), Priest Serge Ledkovsky (deputy rector of St. Vladimir Memorial Church in Jackson, NJ), Fr. Jonah, Fr. Leonid, and Deacon Nathan Mousselli (cleric of St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Lakewood, NJ). A multitude of the faithful gathered for the unction service from across the New Jersey deanery, in order that they might repent of their sins and be cleansed before the great feast of Christ’s Resurrection. Въ понедѣльникъ 8 марта, прот. Артемій Владиміровъ вернулся въ Нью-Джерси изъ Крестовоздвиженскаго монастыря. Вечеромъ, наканунѣ праздника 1го и 2го обрѣтеній честной главы Іоанна Крестителя, о. Артемій возглавилъ полиелейную утреню въ Св. Георгіевскомъ храмѣ. На службѣ была особенная радость – прибыла изъ Св. Серафимовскаго храма, шт. Нью-Іоркъ,  камилавка св. прав. Іоанна Кронштадтскаго, и ощущалась въ храмѣ особенная благодать. Послѣ службы въ резеденціи настоятеля прихожане устроили для о. Артемія прощальный ужинъ и проводы, за которыми батюшка подѣлился своими впечатленіями о своемъ двухнедѣльномъ пребываніи въ Америкѣ. На слѣдующее утро о. Артемій возглавилъ Литургію Преждеосвященныхъ Даровъ въ сослуженіи о. Сергія и о. Іоны. Въ храмѣ также молился іерей Леонидъ Гоферманъ (настоятель Покровскаго храма въ городѣ Нью-Брансвикъ, шт. Нью-Джерси). Въ концѣ Литургіи о. Артемій проповѣдовалъ на тему праздника. Послѣ службы о. Артемій отбылъ въ аэропортъ и затѣмъ въ Москву. Нажмите здѣсь для фотографии.

On Monday, March 8, Archpriest Artemy Vladimirov returned to New Jersey from Holy Cross Monastery. That night, on the eve of the feast of the First and Second Findings of the Holy Head of St. John the Baptist, Fr. Artemy led the Festal Matins. A special joy was present during the service – the kamilavka of St. John of Kronstadt arrived from St. Seraphim of Sarov Church in Sea Cliff, NY, and a special grace could be felt in St. George’s. After the service, parishioners held a farewell dinner at the residence of the rector, during which Fr. Artemy shared his impressions of his two-week visit to the United States. The following morning, Fr. Artemy celebrated the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts, co-served by Fr. Serge and Fr. Jonah. Also praying in church was Priest Leonid Goferman (rector of Holy Virgin Protection Church in New Brunswick, NJ). Upon completion of the Liturgy, Fr. Artemy delivered a sermon on the Finding of the Head of St. John the Baptist. After the service, Fr. Artemy departed for the airport. Click here for photographs.

Въ субботу 6 марта, наканунѣ Крестопоклонной недѣли, настоятель въ сослуженіи приходского духовенства возглавилъ Всенощное бдѣніе въ Св. Георгіевскомъ храмѣ. Во время Великаго славословія, о. Сергій вынесъ особый крестъ съ частицами Животворящаго Древа Господня, Хитона Спасителя и Гроба Господня. На слѣдующее утро была отслужена Божественная литургія. По окончаніи Литургіи о. настоятель привѣтствовалъ р.Б. Ѳеодора Шостака и благодарилъ его за безвозмездные труды въ уборкѣ снѣга во время снѣгопадовъ. Р.Б. Ѳеодоръ взялъ на себя сіе послушаніе въ память своей матери, приснопамятной Татьяны. Отъ имени прихода и въ знакъ благодарности, о. Сергій преподнесъ ему икону св. великомуч. Георгія и затѣмъ о. діаконъ провозгласилъ вѣчную память р.Б. Татьянѣ и многолѣтіе р.Б. Ѳеодору.

On Saturday, March 6, on the eve of the Sunday of the Holy Cross, the rector, co-served by the parish clergy, led the All-Night Vigil in St. George’s Church. During the Great Doxology, Fr. Serge brought out a special cross containing the relics of the Life-Giving Cross of the Lord, the Savior’s raiment, and a piece of the Lord’s Tomb. The following morning, the Divine Liturgy was served. Upon completion of the Liturgy, the rector greeted the servant of God Theodore Shostak, thanking him for his selfless efforts in helping plow the slow during the snowfalls of the last few weeks. The servant of God Theodore took on this obedience in memory of his mother, the ever-memorable Tatiana. On behalf of the parish and as a sign of gratitude, Fr. Serge presented him an icon of the holy Great Martyr St. George, after which Deacon Leonid pronounced Memory Eternal to the handmaiden of God Tatiana, and the Polychronion to the servant of God Theodore.

Въ субботу 27го февраля, прот. Артемій Владиміровъ возглавилъ Заупокойнную литургію въ сослуженіи приходского духовенства и іером. Александра (Фризеллъ). Послѣ Литургіи заупокойнную литію возглавилъ Преосвященнѣйшій епископъ Мэйфильдскій Георгій. Затѣмъ о. Артемій провелъ проповѣдь на Англійскомъ языкѣ.

Въ субботу вечеромъ 27го и воскресенье 28го февраля, въ недѣлю свят. Григорія Паламы, Преосвященнѣйшій епископъ Мэйфильдскій Георгій возглавилъ богослуженія въ Св. Георгіевскомъ храмѣ. Его Преосвященству сослужили прот. Артемій Владиміровъ, настоятель о. Сергій, іером. Александръ (Фризеллъ; насельникъ Крестовоздвиженскаго монастыря въ Зап. Вирджиніи), о. Іона и о. Леонидъ. Во время Всенощнаго бдѣнія и Божественной литургіи, о. Артемій провелъ двѣ замѣчательныя проповѣди. По окончаніи Литургіи, о. Сергій привѣтствовалъ о. Артемія и преподнесъ ему отъ имени прихода мvро отъ Монреальской мvроточивой иконы Божіей Матери и вышитую икону Божіей Матери „Знаменіе“ въ память о посѣщеніи нашего прихода. Въ свою очередь, о. Артемій поблагодарилъ о. настоятеля и прихожанъ за теплый пріемъ и преподнесъ приходу частицу мощей свят. Ѳеофана Затворника, приглашая о. Сергія „изъ Краснобрегово въ Красное Село“. Принимая сіи святыя мощи, о. Сергій осѣнилъ ими богомольцевъ и всѣ присутствующіе пропѣли величаніе свят. Ѳеофану. On Saturday, February 27^th, Archpriest Artemy Vladimirov led the Divine Liturgy co-served by parish clergy and Hieromonk Alexander (Frizzell). After the Liturgy His Grace Bishop George of Mayfield led the litiya for the departed which was followed by a sermon in English by Fr. Artemy.

On Saturday evening the 27th and Sunday the 28th of February, the Sunday of St. Gregory Palamas, His Grace George, Bishop of Mayfield, led the divine services in St. George’s Church. His Grace was co-served by Archpriest Artemy Vladimirov, rector Fr. Serge, Hieromonk Alexander (Frizzell, of Holy Cross Monastery), Fr. Jonah, and Fr. Leonid. During the All-Night Vigil and Divine Liturgy, Fr. Artemy delivered two remarkable sermons. Upon completion of the Liturgy, Fr. Serge greeted Fr. Artemy, and presented him on behalf of the parish with myrrh from the wonder-working Montreal Icon of the Mother of God, as well as an embroidered icon of the Mother of God "of the Sign," in memory of his visit to St. George’s Church. Fr. Artemy thanked the rector in turn, presenting the parish with a particle of the relics of St. Theophan the Recluse. Taking the holy relics, Fr. Serge blessed the worshipers with them, and everyone present sang the magnification to St. Theophan. After lunch, His Grace, accompanied by the above-mentioned clergy, departed for Pennsylvania to take part in the diocesan pastoral conference. Click here for pictures.

Въ среду вечеромъ 24 февраля, въ Св. Георгіевскомъ храмѣ, о. Іоной и о. Леонидомъ была отслужена Литургія Преждеосвященныхъ Даровъ. Передъ началомъ часовъ была отслужена общая заупокойная литія. За Литургіей молились о. Настоятель и прот. Артемий Владиміровъ, который вчера прибылъ въ США изъ Москвы по благословенію Святѣйшаго Патріарха. О. Артемий посѣтитъ нѣкоторые храмы нашей епархіи и также приметъ участіе въ работѣ Великопостнаго говѣнія и пастырскаго совѣщанія, которое пройдетъ на слѣдующей недѣли при Св. Іоанно-Предтеченскомъ каѳедральномъ соборѣ въ Мэйфильдѣ, шт. Пенсильванія. Во время запричастныхъ о. Артемій обратился къ молящимся съ чудесной проповѣдью о св. великомуч. Георгіи и о важности почитанія своего приходского покровителя. Послѣ Литургіи была отслужена панихида по приснопамятномъ Святѣйшемъ Патріархѣ Алексій по случаю памяти свят. On Wednesday evening, February 24, Fr. Jonah and Fr. Leonid served the Liturgy of the Pre-Sanctified Gifts in St. George’s Church. A litany for the departed was served before the beginning of the service. Praying during the Liturgy were the father rector and Archpriest Artemy Vladimirov, who with the blessing of His Holiness, Patriarch Kyrill, arrived in the U.S. yesterday on an evening flight. Fr. Artemy will visit certain churches in our diocese, and will take part in the work of the Lenten Retreat and Pastoral Conference at St. John the Baptist Cathedral in Mayfield, PA. During the communion of the clergy, Fr. Artemy delivered a wonderful sermon to the faithful on St. George the Great Martryr, on the importance of commemorating every parish’s heavenly intercessor. After the Liturgy, a panihida was served for His ever-memorable Holiness, Patriarch Alexey, on the occasion of the day of St. Alexius of Moscow, and for the handmaiden of God Anna Bosko, on the occasion of the 40th day after her repose. Въ субботу 20го и воскресенье 21го февраля, въ недѣлю Торжества Православія, настоятель возглавилъ богослуженія въ Св. Георгіевскомъ храмѣ въ сослуженіи приходского духовенства. Въ субботу вечеромъ во время Всенощнаго бдѣнія состоялась исповѣдь всего прихода. Слава Богу, изъ-за большого количества причастниковъ, въ воскресенье причащали вѣрующихъ изъ двухъ чашъ. Послѣ Литургіи о. Сергій привѣтствовалъ старшую сестру Валентину Николаевну Римакисъ по случаю ее дня ангела и преподнесъ ей цвѣты отъ имени прихода. On Saturday the 20th and Sunday the 21st of February, on the Sunday of the Triumph of Orthodoxy, the rector led the divines services in St. George’s Church, co-served by parish clergy. On Saturday evening, general parish confession was heard after the completion of the All-Night Vigil. Thanks be to God, due to the high number of those wishing to commune, two chalices were used on Sunday. After the Liturgy, Fr. Serge greeted the head sister, Valentina Rimakis, presenting her with flowers on behalf of the parish on the occasion of her names day. The polychronion was then proclaimed for Valentina Nikolaevna. On Friday of the first week of Great Lent, the Liturgy of the Pre-Sanctified Gifts was served in St. George's Church. After the Liturgy, the rite of the blessing of the koliva was served in memory of the holy great-martyr St. Theodore (Tyro) of Amasea. Visitors can see photos of the divine service here.

Въ понедѣльникъ рано утромъ, еще до разсвѣта, по снѣжнымъ долинамъ прозвучалъ звонъ главнаго колокола, призывая вѣрующихъ на первое богослуженiе первой недѣли Поста. У колоколовъ совершенно иной звукъ въ Великомъ посту – каждый ударъ проникаетъ душу и съ каждымъ ударомъ пробуждаются чувства покаянія. Въ храмѣ горятъ не много свѣчей, съ клироса слышано тихое великопостное пѣніе мужского хора и запахъ ѳиміама, какъ и наши грѣшныя молитвы, поднимается къ нѣбу. Дѣйствительно братья, „постимся постомъ пріятнымъ, благоугоднымъ Господеви“.

На первой седмицѣ богослуженiя проходятъ каждый день въ Св. Георгіевскомъ храмѣ. По утрамъ совершается утреня, великопостные часы и вечерня. По вечерамъ совершается Великое повечеріе съ чтеніемъ Великаго покаяннаго канона преп. Андрея Критскаго. До Повечерія совершается заупокойная литія, за которой поминаются всѣ почившіе архіереи, настоятели, ктиторы, атаманы, казаки, прихожане и всѣ православные христіаны. Въ концѣ канона священники читаютъ духовное поученіе, и во вторникъ вечеромъ было прочитано Великопостное посланіе Высокопреосвященнѣйшаго митрополита Иларіона (Посланіе можно читать здѣсь).

По окончаніи Великаго повечерія во втоникъ была отслужена панихида въ девятый день послѣ смерти семи рабовъ Божіихъ, погибшихъ въ автокатострофѣ на Украинѣ. Среди погибшихъ были три священника изъ Черновицкой и Буковинской епархіи. Отъ имени прихода, о. настоятель передалъ соболѣзнованіе Высокопреосвященнѣйшему митрополиту Черновицкому и Буковинскому Онуфрію, и Преосвященнѣйшему епископу Хотинскому Мелетію. Просьба всѣмъ молиться объ упокоеніи новопреставленныхъ протоіереевъ Iоанна, Михаила и Александра и рр.Б. послушника Евгенія, Петра, Анатолія и Николая. Послѣ панихиды о. Сергій обратился къ вѣрующимъ съ словомъ о томъ, какъ важно всегда быть готовымъ на смерть. Онъ въ частности отмѣтилъ, что сей Великій постъ даетъ намъ возможность задуматься о своихъ грѣхахъ и положить начало новой духовной жизни, вѣдь намъ не извѣстно когда Господь пошлетъ своего ангела за нами.

Early Monday morning, before sunrise, the bell’s toll rolled across the snowy plains, calling the faithful to the first divine service of the first week of Lent. The bells have a completely different sound during the Great Lent – each strike penetrates the soul and awakens feelings of repentance. Few candles burn in church, the quiet Lenten hymns of the male choir can be heard from the kliros, and the smoke of the incense, like our sinful prayers, rises to heaven. Truly, brethren, “We fast an acceptable fast, well-pleasing to the Lord.”

On the first week, the divine services are conducted in St. George’s Church every day. The matins, Lenten hours, and vespers are served every morning. In the evenings, the Great Compline with the penitent Great Canon of St. Andrew of Crete is read. Before the Compline, a litany for the departed is served, during which all of the former hierarchs, rectors, benefactors, atamen, Cossacks, parishioners, and all Orthodox Christians are commemorated. After the Canon each night, the priests read a spiritual reading aloud; on Tuesday evening, the Lenten epistle of His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion, was read (the epistle is available here).

Upon completion of the Great Compline on Tuesday, a panihida was served for the ninth day after the death of seven servants of God who perished in a car accident in the Ukraine. Among the deceased were three priests of the Diocese of Chernovtsy and Bukovina. On behalf of the parish, the rector sent his condolences to His Eminence Onufry, Metropolitan of Chernovtsy and Bukovina, and to His Grace Meletiy, Bishop of Khotin. We ask everyone to pray for the repose of the newly departed archpriests John, Michael, and Alexander, and the servants of God: novice Eugene, Peter, Anatoly, and Nicholas. After the panihida, Fr. Serge addressed the faithful with a sermon on the importance of always being prepared for death. He noted in part that Great Lent gives us an opportunity to reflect on our sins and lay a foundation for a new spiritual life, for we never know when the Lord will send his angel for us.

Въ субботу 13го и воскресенье 14го февраля, въ Двунадесятый праздникъ Срѣтенія Господня, праздничныя богослуженія прошли въ св. Георгіевскомъ храмѣ. Всенощное бдѣніе и Божественную литургію возглавилъ настоятель о. Сергій, въ сослуженіи о. Іоны и о. Леонида. Срѣтеніе обычно празднуется 15 февраля, но въ связи съ тѣмъ, что въ этомъ году Великій постъ начинается 15 февраля, праздникъ переносится на Прощеное Воскресенье.
