His
Grace Bishop Meletiy of Khotin visited our parish on January 23rd for
the feast of St. Theophan the Recluse. On January 22nd, parishioners
Dimitri and Maria hosted a dinner in honor of our dear Vladika. The
next day, Vladika visited our parish to pray with us at the Divine
Liturgy. At the conclusion of the liturgy, Fr. Serge welcomed Vladika,
and noted the historical significance of his visit, as this was the
first time a bishop of the Moscow Patriarchate participated in a
service at St. Nicholas parish. Vladika responded by expressing his
joy in joining us for the service and passed along his best wishes for
the future of our parish. In his sermon, Vladika mentioned how
wonderful it is to see St. Theophan's memory honored in a country that
the Holy Hierarch never even dreamed of visiting. St. Theophan is one
of the great saints of the last 200 years and his writing have been a
spiritual inspiration for millions of Orthodox Christians. After the
liturgy, Fr. Serge gave Vladika a tour of Red Bank and showed him the
Navesink River, which was recently blessed on the Epiphany. Vladika
Meletiy is the vicar bishop to Metropolitan Onuphry of Chernovtsy, a
dear friend of our parish. Glory be to God for sending His Grace to
our parish and spiritually uplifting all of us.

Through God's
mercy, the parishioners of St. Nicholas Church have successfully
completed the festive Nativity weekend. After many rehearsals,
our choir adorned the services with angelic singing that was
felt by everyone present. The full cycle of festive services was
completed starting with the Royal Hours, Great Vespers,
Great Compline and of course the Divine Liturgies on
Sunday and Monday. The rector would like to thank all those who
toiled for the glory of God in making our holidays so prayerful
and memorable. Glory be to God for all things! Click

Upon
completion of the Royal Hours, Fr. Serge, along with a
delegation from the parish, were received by the Honorable
Mayor of Red Bank, Pasquale Menna. The meeting was held in the
spirit of friendship and mutual interest in the community of
Red Bank. Fr. Serge proposed the idea of having a procession
from the church to the Navesink River on Epiphany, in order to
bless the waters. The Mayor graciously accepted the proposal
and went even farther to suggest, that the blessing of the
waters mark the beginning of celebrations in honor of the
cities centennial anniversary. Mr. Menna pledged his full
support to the parish in helping to make the blessing of the
waters, a historic and memorable event for the entire city.
Many other ideas were exchanged during the meeting, which
would help the parish to grow and become an active part of the
community, contributing all the best that the Russian faith
and culture have to offer. At the conclusion of the meeting,
Fr. Serge thanked the Mayor for his generosity and genuine
concern for our small parish.
