On
Wednesday, August 27th, on the eve of the great feastday of the
Dormition of the Mother of God, the rector and deacon celebrated the
All-Night Vigil. During matins, the Jerusalem Rite of Burial was
performed, complete with a procession around the church. On Thursday,
a Divine Liturgy was served, after which a festive procession and
luncheon took place. Following the luncheon, at 2PM, Fr. Serge served
vespers and matins. On August 29, the day of the Translation of the
Image of Christ "Not-Made-By-Hands" from Edessa to
Constantinople, the rector will be celebrating the 8th anniversary of
his ordination into the priesthood. The ordination was performed by
the ever-memorable Metropolitan Laurus. The editors extend heartfelt

On Monday, August 25th, a meeting of the parish council was held at
the rector's residence. The council discussed issues pertaining to
parish life and the completion of renovation projects at the church.

On
Monday, August 18th, and Tuesday, August 19th, on the Great Feastday
of the Transfiguration of the Lord, the rector and deacon served the
all-night vigil and Divine Liturgy. After the Liturgy, Fr. Serge
delivered a spiritually uplifting sermon on the subject of the
feastday, and on the importance of obtaining that same holy radiance
that shone forth from the Savior on Mt. Tabor, through repentance and
partaking in Holy Communion. The rector then performed the blessing of

браней.“ Въ
среду
вечеромъ
послѣ
Выноса
Креста,
настоятель
совершилъ
панихиду
по всѣмъ
усопшимъ
православнымъ
христiанaмъ
на Кавказѣ.
По
благословенiю
Святѣйшаго
Патрiарха,
на
Божественной
Литургiи 17го
августа,
читались
особыя
молитвы о
мирѣ на
Кавказѣ.

Моника
Юнисъ. Во
время
трапезы
Моника
порадовала
нашихъ
прихожанъ
краткимъ
духовнымъ
концертомъ.

18th, 2008
This
weekend, prayers were read in St. Nicholas Church for the liberation
of the peoples of the Caucasus from "enmity, violence and civil
strife." On Wednesday night, after the Bringing out of the Holy
Cross, the rector served a panikhida for all Orthodox Christians
killed in the violence in the Caucasus. With the blessing of His
Holiness, Patriarch Alexey, special prayers were read during the
course of the Divine Liturgy. Click here

Orthodox brothers and sisters in their private prayers, as well. At
the end of the Liturgy, the rector read a special prayer for all of
the youth who are starting school this September, wishing them God's
blessing in their efforts. Also, this Sunday our parish was proud to
host the famous opera soprano Monica Yunus. During the parish
luncheon, Monica regaled our parishioners with a moving spiritual
