Во вторникъ 30-го iюня, состоялось очередное засѣданiе церковно-приходского совѣта св. Николаевскаго храма съ участiемъ старосты и старшой сестры св. Георгiевскаго храма, Iоанна и Валентины Римакисъ. Главная цѣль засѣданiя - подготовка къ торжеству свв. Царственныхъ мучениковъ, которое состоится 16-го и 17-го iюля с.г. Члены совѣта также обсудили рядъ благотворительныхъ мѣропрiятiй на вторую половину 2009 г.

On Tuesday, June 30, a regular meeting of the parish council of St. Nicholas Church was held; in attendance were the warden and head sister of St. George's Church, Mr. & Mrs. John Rimakis. The principal goal of the meeting was to discuss and prepare for the feast of the Holy Royal Martyrs, which is to take place on July 16-17 of this year. Council members also discussed a series of benevolent events for the second half of 2009.

1 іюля 2009 г. - Открытіе лѣтняго лагеря ОРЮР
Въ воскресенье 28 іюня, въ горахъ сѣвернаго Нью-Іорка, открылся лѣтній лагерь Организаціи росскійскихъ юныхъ развѣдчиковъ, дружина „Царское село“. Лагерь посѣщаютъ болѣе 120 мальчиковъ и дѣвушекъ (отъ 8 до 18 лѣтъ), которые проводятъ весь мѣсяцъ іюль въ лѣсу, спя въ палаткахъ и купаясь въ мѣстномъ озерѣ Сакандага. Но главная цѣль организаціи – воспитаніе молодежи въ православной, русскоязычной, братской средѣ. Отецъ Сергій уже восемь лѣтъ служитъ духовнымъ руководителемъ дружины. Въ воскресенье, была отслужена Божественная литургія въ лагерной часовнѣ св. великомуч. Георгія, послѣ котораго о. Сергій освятилъ подлагеря. Нажмите здѣсь для фотографій.

July 1, 2009 - The Opening of SGPA Summer Camp
On Sunday, June 28, in the hills of upstate New York, the summer camp of St. George Pathfinders of America, “Tsarskoe Selo” Druzhina (chapter), opened. The camp is attended by over 120 boys and girls (8 to 18 years of age), who spend the entire month of July in the woods, sleeping in tents and swimming in nearby Lake Sacandaga. The principal goal of the organization, however, is the extracurricular upbringing of children in an Orthodox, Russian-speaking, brotherly atmosphere. Father Serge has served as the Druzhina’s spiritual father for eight years. On Sunday, a Divine Liturgy was served in the camp’s St. George chapel. Following the Liturgy, Fr. Serge blessed all of the sub-camps. Click here for pictures.

Во вторникъ 23 iюня, состоялось очередное засѣданiе Епархiальнаго Совѣта, на которомъ была одобрена новая офицiальная интернетъ-страница Восточно-Американской Епархiи. Смотрите страницу здѣсь. Епархiальный совѣтъ также постановилъ провести епархiальное торжество свв. Царственныхъ мучениковъ въ Свято-Георгiевскомъ храмѣ 16 и 17 iюля с.г. On Tuesday, June 23rd, during a regular session of the Diocesan Council, a new website was launched for the Eastern American Diocese. Click here to visit the new site. The Council also declared a diocesan celebration of the feast of the Royal Martyrs to be held in St. George's Church on July 16th and 17th. What is the Orthodox Church?

The Eastern Orthodox Church is the Church that Jesus Christ established in Palestine 2,000 years ago.

The Christianity that we in America and Europe know is that which moved from the Middle East, where Christianity began, to the West; to Rome, Europe, and America. We know how the faith and practice in these western lands changed, leading eventually to the Protestant Reformation. Later non-denominational Churches also tried to determine from the Bible what the Ancient Church “must” have been like. Unhappily, different people reading the same Bible understand it differently, and now there are hundreds of quite different denominations of Churches in the West.

But what happened to Christianity in the East, where Jesus Christ established it? What of the Christians in Jerusalem, in Alexandria, Antioch, and Constantinople – all of the major centers of the Faith other than Rome in the earliest years of Christianity? All of them were founded directly by the Apostles, blessed to do so by Jesus Christ. Did these Christians follow along the same road as the Roman Church?

Western teachings of Purgatory, the selling of “indulgences” to get out of Purgatory, the Supremacy of the Pope, the infallibility of the Pope, the subtle change of the fundamental statement of Christian Faith (the Creed) of the early Church, none of these “innovations” of the Roman Church were ever accepted or taught in the East. There was no Protestant Reformation in the East, because there was no need for one. No one had to break away, or try to decipher from the Bible what the New Testament Church probably would have been like before the Roman Church changed it, because in the East, it hadn’t changed. There was no need to resurrect the ancient Faith, because in the East, it never died!

The Church that Jesus Christ founded in the East is still alive, still filled and guided by the Holy Spirit, still maintains an unbroken, living connection straight back to the Apostles, and to Jesus Christ Himself.

Петровскiй постъ начинается въ понедѣльникъ 15го iюня и кончается въ воскресенье 12го iюля на праздникъ Святыхъ Апостоловъ Петра и Павла. Въ посту не разрѣшается мясо и молочные продукты.

June 15th - July 12th - Apostles Fast
The Apostles' Fast begins on Monday, June 15th and ends on the feast of Sts. Peter & Paul on July 12th. Meat and dairy products are not permitted during the fast.

17го iюля 2009 г. - Праздникъ Свв. Царственныхъ Мучениковъ
Въ четвергъ 16го iюля, въ Свято-Георгiевскомъ храмѣ будетъ отслужено Всенощное бдѣнiе съ акаѳистомъ передъ мощами святыхъ Царственныхъ мучениковъ. Въ пятницу 17го iюля, въ 91-ю годовщину мученической кончины Царской семьи, начало Божественной литургiи въ 9:30 ч. Богослуженiя возглавятъ Преосвященнѣйшiе епископы Георгiй и Iеронимъ въ сослуженiи епархiальнаго духовенства. Въ концѣ Литургiи состоится крестный ходъ со святыми мощами. Послѣ Литургiи, въ казачьемъ залѣ состоится банкетъ и представленiе второго изданiя монтажа о жизни и страданiи свв. Царственныхъ мучениковъ.

July 17th, 2009 - Feast of the Royal Martyrs of Russia
On Thursday, July 16th, an All-Night Vigil with akathist will be served in St. George's Church before the relics of the Holy Royal Martyrs. On Friday, July 17th, on the 91st anniversary of the martyrdom of the Royal Family, the Divine Liturgy will begin at 9:30 AM. Bishops George and Jerome will lead the services, co-served by clergy from the diocese. At the end of the Liturgy, a procession will be held with the holy relics, followed by a banquet in the Cossack hall. During the banquet, the second edition of the Royal Martyrs montage will be presented.
